(CNSNews.com) - The Republican National Committee has unveiled a new Internet ad drawing attention to the cost of John Kerry's recent Nantucket vacation. "Our newest Internet ad provides a few snapshots from John Kerry's break at the beach," said Jim Dyke, RNC communications director. The ad, a spoof of Mastercard's "Priceless" campaign, is called "A Very Kerry Weekend." It notes that last week, Sen. Kerry "traveled the country trying to convince Americans that we are living through the Great Depression." Then he ended the week in Nantucket, where a tank of gas for his $700,000 boat costs $647; a new tire for his $8,000 bicycle costs $40; a kite-surfing excursion costs $2,500; a dinner of sea scallops costs $36; and "a good night's sleep in your coastal mansion after a week traveling the country on a 'Days of Malaise Tour'" is "priceless." Earlier this year, the conservative group Citizens United ran a similar takeoff on the "Priceless" ad, mocking the wealthy Kerry's claim to be a "man of the people.""

Maybe I'm way off but I think they should stick to issues.
RICE/KEYES 2008!
It's a valid exercise to shine light on the hypocrisy of the limousine Liberals.
Keyes/Rice. I want to see Alan devour Broomhilda one bite at a time.
I'm with you. I'm no fan of the "class envy" stuff.
I'd prefer less focus on his bank account and more on the bankruptcy of his ideas.
"I'm with you. I'm no fan of the "class envy" stuff."
Neither am I. But that "class envy" stuff is what Kerry RUNS on. To not address it is to simply hand Kerry the popular belief that he's on the right side of the class warfare "struggle" he tries so hard to manufacture.

There is a certain segment of society who is not paying attention to the issues, but will respond to this tactic.
Besides, it seems to be a "tasteful" attack ad. No name calling, just facts presented in an familiar, amusing manner.
<< Keyes/Rice. I want to see Alan devour Broomhilda one bite at a time. >>
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Wood-ennitt be...luvverly?
"There is a certain segment of society who is not paying attention to the issues, but will respond to this tactic."
A very small segment who are also very small-minded. I think there is a larger group (including me) that find these attacks meaningless and destructive to those that run them (I would also include attacks on a candidates family and looks).
He should be challenged on that - especially when he's making those loathsome "Great Depression" remarks on the campaign trail.
Why are they running this only as an Internet ad?
One of our 527's should be running this ad as an independent expenditure.
The more people who see this ad, the better.
It is a mistake to assume that you naturally represent the majority. I am constantly disappointed to learn the great percentage of people who only pay attention to something when there is an emotional preamble to get their attention. These ads do work and the professionals that create them know it.
I think this is one of the issues. Here we have a man who proposes helping the environment, who owns 5 houses , flies around in his wifes jet, spends thousands enjoying himself, but feels that I have no right to an SUV. Why is he entitled to lifes pleasures and I am supposed to ride in a Yugo. I am entitled to anything I can afford , just the same as Hanoi John.
As for his being a man of the people??? Guve me a frickin break.
This ad will clarify Kerry's mindset to people across the U.S. who have never had the experience of rubbing elbows with the "elities" on MV or Nantucket. I never realized that I was a simple "peon" until I stopped by a club in Oaks Bluff a long time ago. It was Carly's place and she and Baby James would hold forth...nevermind, it was BS then and BS now. Ultimately, that's how I got here from there! All the emperors have no clothes in that little world and they all love Kerry and Kennedy. That's why the ad is relavant.
The RNC would do better to focus on the fact that in 1998, Kerry said Clinton did not need UN Security Council approval in order to attack Iraq.
Kerry also asked where the backbone of France and Germany were with regard to Iraq.

Additionally, Senator Frist said Sunday on the talk shows that Kerry spent a long time on the Senate floor two years ago detailing all the connections between Saddam and Osama bin Laden.
Freepers have yet to find a link to that Senate speech.
1998 should be 1997. Sorry.
Perhaps, but there is no more effective tactic than to make people laugh at your opponent. Ridicule can be devestating to a political candidate.
Me too. This is petty. W doesn't exactly stay at the KOA himself.
Of course W earned his $$. Kerry on the other hand did it the old fashioned way - prostitution.
