Shopping Malls Still Remain Target
News Max ^ | June 20, 2004 | Staff

Posted on 06/20/2004 2:44:44 PM PDT by yoe

When the FBI recently revealed that a Somali native had been plotting to blow up a Columbus, Ohio shopping mall, the revelation should not have surprised NewsMax's Insider Report readers.

NewsMax reported in an Insider Report in March that U.S. intelligence sources had significant chatter that shopping centers and malls were among the next major targets for al-Qaeda.

These targets are considered "soft" since they are not well protected and can reap high casualties in sensational attacks.

That report was buttressed with the recent FBI accusation against Nuradin Abdi, an Ohio man who has been on U.S. soil for the past five years.

The Bureau says Abdi has been working with Iyman Faris, an admitted al-Qaeda supporter who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for scouting the Brooklyn Bridge and other possible targets for terrorists.

Based on FBI-gathered evidence, a grand jury this month indicted Abdi on charges that he plotted to blow up a Columbus area mall.

Despite the Abdi catch, intelligence sources continue to tell NewsMax that shopping centers, buses and trains remain among the highest soft targets for terrorist action.

Since terrorists are reportedly Islamic extremists or militants of the Muslim faith, it seems to me that all Mosques in towns and cities across the United States should be on alert that they will be shut down if any terrorism happens in the United States – regardless. It is the Muslim, militant they may be, but it is that religion that is behind terrorism. The militants have hi-jacked Islam it for their personal use leaving honest believers in the Islamic faith hanging in the breeze. Be that as it may – the true Muslim must step forward and declare his stance against terrorism, otherwise they are being tarred with the same brush. There are no if ands or buts in this approach and that goes for any terrorism - be it malls, trains, kidnapping ANY acts of terrorism. Let ELF fall into this catagory also!

Not only bears repeating, but also worthy of big, bold letters!

The last 3 letters(after 3 numbers) on my license plate are ELF.

I've had it for years and it used to have a humorous connotation but since E.L.F became terrorists I'm thinking of getting rid of it.

I don't blame you. It could even attract violence in your direction. That group is on very thin ice, IMHO.

Does this fall at least into the general category of the statements you're asking for?

The sheeple have already forgotten September 11. Contrast 2004 America with America in WWII. No one had forgotten Pearl Harbor 2 1/2 years later. But generations who have had their brains numbed by the liberal education establishment and Hollywood have already pushed 9/11 aside, waiting for something more entertaining to come along. President Bush needs to keep reminding people were are in WWIII, and the enemy is ISLAM. Time to fight! Interning suspect Muslims and illegals in internment camps would be a good idea. Hopefully the President can do it when/if he wins a 2nd term.

oh I agree ... September 11 is all but forgotten in the minds of a lot of people ... I wish it hadn't happened of course, but at a minimum I wish at least one planeload of passengers could have at least landed so we would have their stories firsthand ... they should be speaker at schools, and companies ... instead we had muslim apologists telling us, like CAIR, don't worry, we're all your friends ... (amazingly some believe CAIR, though CAIR was all weepy when Israel rightfully blew up Yassin and Rantissi as they should have) ...

uh huh ...

I suggest all women avoid malls for the immediate future and only shop at Saks, Neiman's and Barney's.

That's my self-defense tip of the day. You're welcome.

The leaders of mosques in the USA should be informed that due to the large
number of National Guard soldiers serving abroad liberating Muslims...
that if "civil unrest" breaks out due to a terrorist attack on American assets/people
here or abroad...
their safety can not be guaranteed.

I'm not advocating violence.
Just thinking to tell the local Muslims that they might not be as lucky as the
citizens/foreign nationals of Japan in WWII America who managed to keep their lives
following Pearl Harbor.

I was watching Ollie tonight. During WWII people were bombing markets and such. Or at least planning them. Terror is not new I guess. No wonder they rounded some people up.

Most American's are fully awake. It's our government that refuses to wake up.

Ha. I went to a CAIR "open-house" in 11/2001, mainly because I'd known a couple of Muslims (as Muslims) for a little while. Frankly, though the group put on a good presentation (maybe not surprising since the CAIR leaders were mostly Microsoft managers) I, to put it mildly, did not find several of the leaders of the local chapter, including its head, very convincing. Couldn't put my finger on it exactly, just a small voice that says "these individuals are not your friends."

interesting ... I must admit I've known some moderate muslims and had them as friendly acquaintances ... I must believe that for some, at least, there must be a terrible moral struggle to deny these teachings even while they are being upheld in these other countries ... perhaps they can be classified as MINO's?

CAIR's agenda is clear with their tears for Rantissi and Yassin, both terrorist leaders ... I am surprised that CAIR would even admit so ... they are indeed on the side of terrorists ...

but there certainly seems no small number that are trying to make World War III happen ...
