ASTANA, Kazakhstan (AP) - Russia gave the Bush administration intelligence that suggested Saddam Hussein's regime was preparing attacks against the United States and its interests abroad before the Iraq war, President Vladimir Putin said Friday. Putin said he couldn't comment on how critical the Russians' information was in the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq. However, he said the intelligence didn't cause Russia to waver from its firm opposition to the war.
"Indeed, after Sept. 11, 2001, and before the start of the military operation in Iraq, the Russian special services ... received information that officials from Saddam's regime were preparing terrorist attacks in the United States and outside it against the U.S. military and other interests," Putin said.
"Despite that information about terrorist attacks being prepared by Saddam's regime, Russia's position on Iraq remains unchanged," Putin said.

ASTANA, Kazakhstan (AP) - Russia gave the Bush administration intelligence that suggested Saddam Hussein's regime was preparing attacks against the United States and its interests abroad before the Iraq war, President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
Putin said he couldn't comment on how critical the Russians' information was in U.S. decision to invade Iraq.
Putin said Russia didn't have any information that Saddam's regime had actually been behind any terrorist acts.
This is now being reported on Fox News (12:36 PM EST), complete with a video of Putin saying it. Let's see the libs spin this one.
Thanks! Sorry I repeated, but at least its important enough not to be missed!
Glad to see it is getting at least some media coverage!
That is big news! Saddam was planning terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. Now what do the naysayers say?
It is from a different source, so you aren't repeating.
Thanks for posting this.
We need as much of a Wake Up call for Freepers on this as we can get.
They will just ignore this and talk about moore's movie.
hey maybe we can edit this into his movie

I'm not holding my breath to see this story on TV. CNN will probably put it on "the crawler" at the bottom on the screen.ABC,CBS,and NBC will probably try to ignore it.(No pictures from Abu Ghraib=No story.)
bump
Yo New York Times, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN--We the People are waiting for you to chomp down on that crow. Bon Appetit!
They're starting to hint that Dubya and Putin cooked up this story at the G-8 summit last week.
They've talked about it.
Wolf Blitzer's "antenna went up", as he quaintly put it. Also it was mentioned that no specific plot was mentioned, nor any information that Saddam actually was involved in any terrorist attacks.
This before they printed the first story or at the same time as they first broke the story. Let me guess, the story went something like this.
In further efforts to defend itself against charges by the 9/11 commission that there was no link between Iraq and 9/11, the Bush administration presented a statement by Russian President Putin alleging Saddam's Iraq was allegedly planning a terror strike in the U.S.
But critics of the Bush Administration's handling of the Iraq war are now questioning the Putin statement, saying it was the result of pressure put on the Russian President at the recently concluded G8 Summit in the U.S.
Several prominent Congressional Democrats have begun to hint at the need for a Congressional investigation to determine if the Bush Administration has secretly offered deals for to Russia in exchange for a Putin statement.
[Skip several paragraphs before the Putin statement is provided in any detail]
...Putin also did not address the abuses at the Abu Grahib prison....
They issued a page one correction. Just found it!
In further efforts to defend itself against charges by the 9/11 commission that there was no link between Iraq and 9/11 and what some are say appears to be an effort to deflect attention from abuses at the Abu Grahib prison, the Bush administration presented a statement by Russian President Putin alleging Saddam's Iraq was allegedly planning a terror strike in the U.S.
About time you straightened that out. Thanks.
Now that the "hostage" beheading story has broken, this story will get "spiked"....indefinitely.
It probably won't even make "the crawler" by tonight, and,if it gets into the newspapers,it will nestled among the fillers on page A16.
The Talking Heads will no longer have a potentially embarrassing story to deal with, and will be able to leave the public with their last message: "No terrorists in Iraq - Bush Lied !"
