Here's an exercise. Try to imagine what kind of funeral the other living President's are going to have. Here are my scenarios in the order of their Presidencies:
- Gerald Ford - small and dignified, not nearly as grandiose as this past week. News coverage will be limited to nightly news and CNN, MSNBC and Fox will lead with the story for about three days. C-SPAN will have extensive coverage but nobody will care.
- Jimmy Carter - will refuse state sponsored funeral. Left leaning coverage will swoon over differences between his "pauper" funeral and the "billion-dollar affair" of President Reagan. C-SPAN will have extensive coverage but nobody will care.
- George H. W. Bush - Hard to say. My guess is it will be shrouded in secrecy and be very discreet in an old, eastern establishment sort of way. Rabid, meat eating right will vilify him for raising taxes and not taking out Saddam. Left will praise him for his courtesy and thoughtfulness. C-SPAN will have extensive coverage but nobody will care.
- Bill Clinton - The biggest par-tay blow out of the 21st century. All events will be in Arkansas and the non-stop images of partying revelers will rival anything out of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Numerous dignitaries overseas will praise Clinton's vision. The neo-cons, whatever remains of them, will be apoplectic and will try to bring up the blue dress and Ken Starr (for their efforts, they will be drowned out). C-SPAN will have extensive coverage but nobody will care.
- George W. Bush - The exact opposite of Clinton's. How it plays out will be whether he wins reelection in November. C-SPAN will have extensive coverage but nobody will care.
Batter up!

bill was just basking in all the praise he was receiving (all those eulogies were directed at him, weren't they???) and hilliary was just empathizing with "her" beloved bill.

At one point, when the music was really jamming, the camera pointed at Bubba and he had his eyes closed and he was rocking to and fro gently with a slight smile like he was really getting into it. It was kind of a sanctified Baptist/first Black President moment. It contrasted sharply with the Bushes' stoic, dignified, patrician, WASP-y, Episcopalian demeanor and thus seemed quite inappropriate. At the same time Hillary simply stared straight forward and scowled faintly like she was constipated, bored, and her tush hurt. Oh how I hate those two! Her even more than him!

Posted this last night and I think people thought I had photo-shopped it. Actually this is from Drudge Report. No touch-ups required. Saw them heavy-lidded when Bush was delivering his speech.

Listened to the funeral via radio (106.5 FM in this area) that Fox broadcasted on. Laughed myself real good when Maggie Thatcher's, alias The Iron Lady, words were read and the commentator latered mentioned that the former Soviet premier was shifting uncomfortably in his seat because he still believes in the communist state even though he resides in CA. Another one I laughed at was when one of speakers (I believe it was the elder Bush) talked about the 80s assassination attempt where Reagan jokingly inquired if all those surrounded him were Republicans. Kept thinking that I wished I could see ole Bubba and Hitlery shifting in their seats on that one. The last laughs come from the Gipper!

Disagree. Clinton's will be a weeping wailing affair with people fainting at the sight of his casket and full military honors. Hillary will play the horrified grieving widow unless she goes first.
If Hill goes first, Bill will play the grief angle to get a pity f**k.

"I was hoping they were dead sitting there."LOL!
They looked dead.......as usual.
I was hoping wouldn't show. Since klintoon was so upset he wasn't invited to speak.
Nixon didn't speak at LBJ's funeral. He and Pat were there but didn't speak. C-Span replayed that funeral yesterday.
I don't recall seeing it at the time. So probably didn't watch.

I'm SO GLAD that the Republicans developed a spine and told Bubba that he was not one on the speakers. The Republicans didn't have anything to do with it. It was the family's decision. As it should have been.

Woman at back - "Did those hillbillies fart or just snore?"

My impression was that the Klintons were only there because they "had" to be there.....and were trying their best to "look sad". Apparently Bill didn't know the camera was on him - he wasn't biting his lower lip.

The woman at back is Betty Ford, and Gerald isn't looking to attentive either.

Yeah, I'm afraid if the talk continues we'll be told they were exhausted from cuddling all night. (Sorry, forgot the Barf Alert.) Don't put it past them...'member the clip of them dancing on the beach? You can count on them seeding stories of their great love for each other so that Sid Vicious and The Snake can recount them on camera some day...

The grimace on Mrs. Ford's face is hilarious!!
And picture perfect!!
