Being an almost brand-new member, I think I ought to contribute a sort of "security deposit" to the common kettle: [I tried to post it as a thread and got stuck in the computer - so I'm posting it as a reply on this thread].
Decades ago in USSR I went through ROTC type training on bio/chemical defense. More recently, in the USA, during anthrax attacks, people exhibited strong interest in what they could do for self-protection using commonly available materials, and were writing down the recipes I still remembered. Considering this information to be of public benefit and interest (hope no one will really need it), I repeat it here:
Besides using personal protection equipment (gas mask, gloves, respirator):
In case of nerve gas contamination one should use a basic amine solution (like ethanolamine) in water, ca. 5-10%,- to apply it to the exposed surfaces, and to rub these surfaces with it. As ethanolamine is somewhat uncommon, regular ammonia solution from hardware store could be used instead (it smells very strongly, is 28% and has to be diluted to ca. 5%). If one is to pour concentrated ammonia on the floor of a contaminated room, close the doors and get out of there as fast as possible - by the time ammonia dissipates the nerve gas would be neutralized.
In case of biological/VX contamination one uses chloramine solution (or even household bleach, diluted maybe 1:1 with water) in the same fashion. If the surface to be rubbed with these deactivating solutions is human skin, then, after decent interval after treatment, it is to be rinsed with clean water. Pouring concentrated bleach in open glass/ceramic pan and leaving it on the floor of a closed room would stink the room with chlorine and provide a poor man version of chlorine dioxide treatment they did in Senate building.
Under no conditions should one mix together these 2 recipes mentioned, so one would need external information on the nature of likely threat. The recipes are not foolproof, but were considered sufficient for protection under field conditions.

G8 Members:

United States of America

French Republic

Russian Federation

United Kingdom

Republic of Italy

Federal Republic of Germany

Japan

Canada

European Union

The EU? They have four nations in the G8 and they also have a membership for the whole continent? Five euro votes? We have states with bigger GDPs than some of their nations. In fact I think we have states with bigger GDPs that the whole EU. California maybe?

In one of the intercepted phone conversations, Osman Ahmed refers to a woman ready to carry out a chemical attack in America, the ANSA news agency reported.

Sounds like she is in the US.

Hmmmm, an attractive Arab-looking woman (dressed in fashionable-but-casual Western clothes) got on my bus today at the entrance to the downtown Seattle bus tunnel. She rode for two stops, then got off - still in the tunnel - and sat down on a bench to wait for another bus. Kind of unusual behavior . . . (no, I don't think she was a terrorist, but when terrorists strike, it will probably be preceded by slightly unusual behavior like this woman exhibited)

We do have an alert out on a woman named Siddiqui. She is usually associated with helping a terrorist establish his identity here but I believe there is more to her terrorist connections than has thus far been revealed.

1994 : (SIDDIQUI GRADUATES FROM MIT )  Mrs. Siddiqui is a 1994 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and wrote a doctoral thesis for Brandeis University in 2001, according to the Associated Press.

1999 : (USA : MASSACHUSSETTS : ROXBURY : INSTITUTE OF ISLAMIC RESEARCH AND TEACHING IS FOUNDED BY SIDDIQUI IN A MOSQUE) In 1999, Siddiqui formed the nonprofit Institute of Islamic Research and Teaching Inc., which had offices in a mosque in Roxbury, Mass. She was the institute's president and her husband its treasurer, records show.- "Boston Woman accused of al-Qaida ties held in Pakistan," by CURT ANDERSON, AP, via News Observer, April 22 2003

DECEMBER 2002 or JANUARY 2003 : (SIDDIQUI IS IN MARYLAND, USA NEAR WASHINGTON, DC) - "Boston Woman accused of al-Qaida ties held in Pakistan," by CURT ANDERSON, AP, via News Observer, April 22 2003

MARCH 2003 : (WANTED : FBI ISSUES WORLDWIDE ALERT FOR SIDDIQUI) The FBI in March put out a global alert for Siddiqui, who has a biology degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and wrote a doctoral thesis on neurological sciences at Brandeis University in 2001. It was the first time an FBI bulletin sought a woman since the war against terror began, officials have said. - "Boston Woman accused of al-Qaida ties held in Pakistan," by CURT ANDERSON, AP, via News Observer, April 22 2003

MARCH 2003 : (WANTED : FBI ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE ALERT FOR EL SHUKRIJUMAH) Adnan El Shukrijumah, a 27-year-old Saudi native nicknamed "Jafar the Pilot." He lived for a number of years in South Florida and authorities believe he is an al-Qaida operative who may have been planning new attacks. His family denies any terrorist ties and he also has not been located. - "Boston Woman accused of al-Qaida ties held in Pakistan," by CURT ANDERSON, AP, via News Observer, April 22 2003

JUNE 15, 2003 : (NEWSWEEK : SIDDIQUI) A Pakistani woman suspected of aiding al Qaeda operatives in a plot to blow up Baltimore gas stations is still at large, FBI officials said...Federal agents said they are looking for Aafia Siddiqui, 31, because she might have helped an al Qaeda member do reconnaissance on the gas stations. Mrs. Siddiqui is the first woman to be targeted by the FBI for possible involvement with the terrorist group led by Osama bin Laden. Also..., law enforcement sources told The Times that al Qaeda's plans in Baltimore never moved beyond preliminary stages. "It never got to a point where there was a plan in place," a source close to the case told The Times yesterday. "They knew enough about the underground tanks, the weak points and where to hit them ... but it was more informational than operational." Information about Mrs. Siddiqui's reported involvement with al Qaeda appeared this week in a Newsweek magazine cover story. Though the story stated Mrs. Siddiqui was apprehended in Pakistan, an FBI spokesman ... contradicted the account. "I'm not aware of her being detained at this time," Barry Maddox of the FBI's Baltimore field office told The Washington Times. - "Suspect in terror plot still at large," By Jon Ward , THE WASHINGTON TIMES , http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20030616-110254-8591r.htm

Related individuals are Faris the Ohio truckdriver, el Shukrijumah aka Jaffar the Pilot, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Majid Khan.

FYI:

1967 - The Six Day War between Israel and the Arabs ended.

2001 - Timothy McVeigh was executed by the U.S. federal government for his role in the bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City.

These were the only two I could find that might be pertinent. As a side note, that is also the day John Wayne died in 1979 : (

In most cases, the likely location of the attacks was Iraq, he said. The prosecutor gave no further details.
