Took 18 posts for somebody to bring up the fact the dog was tethered to the fence.
The cop is an asshole...split-second decision my ass.
The cop got there and the guy is holding a pit bull. "Wayne", the cop, said that the suspect let the pit bull go on him and he emptied a mag shooting at the dog. One shot blew the dogs back leg off and I heard from our dog catcher that the dog bled to death before he could get it to the vet.
Needless to say, the story comes out in the paper and is a bit different from the Officers version so there is an investigation going on.
I suggested that we start using "low to the ground, fast moving pit bull targets" at the range, they're not east to hit.
"(I'd almost bet the shooter never owned a dog......
or IMHO, worse yet......is a CAT owner.....) "
Being a dog and cat owner are not mutually exclusive.
LOL. I never thought of it that way. Dogs must look at us with a mixture of envy and admiration. LOL.
I was asked to feed a friend's dogs once while they were out of town. He didn't tell me they were enormous dogs capable of eating me in one bite. (I think.) So I used doggy treats to distract them while I gave their food. Spread doggy treats all over the back yard but I got out alive.
That's something that separates us from the animals - we don't have to use force as a first option.
Most people would be surprised how difficult it is to stop a pit bull even with a .45.
IMHO, in cases where it IS "mutually exclusive",(and why dog was not included in that portion of my post,)and cat is the animal of choice between the two, choice, some of the one's I know are VERY "militant".
Must be a "cat guy".
My thoughts exactly, Squantos!

That's why I take my 12 guage. One of our guys hit a pit bull in the head with a .45 and it kept coming, the second shot dropped it.
It’s not right.
