They'll have the Ronald Reagan funeral...it is a prime time event
Perhaps I'd hold a little pre-book signing...the timing works so well it's almost heaven sent
I'd bite my lip and I would shed a tear...just like I did for Ron Brown
I know that I can still look presidential...and yet get in a nice clean shot to put Bush down
Talk, talk, I wanna talk...I'll make my sick-o-fants proud
Talk, talk, if I can talk...I know I'll nail a chick in that crowd
Me, me, me...it's about me, me, me
I hope that Nancy listens to my plea...and Michael gives me a break
Of course, I guess it doesn't help my cause that, on radio he's called me nothing but a fake
Me, me, me...it's about me, me, me
Why must the right wing be mean spirited...why can't they cut me some slack
I hope they hadn't heard about the time that I tried hard to get Patti Davis in the sack
Me, me, me...it's about me, me, me
Tom Donahue and Bobby Mitchell had pioneered rock radio in Philadelphia in 1956 when they turned WIBG from a religious station to a rock giant. Donahue ended up in San Francisco, first in radio, and then in records, before dying from complications of morbid obesity in the early Seventies. (His daughter, who had the same problem, died shortly after him.)
Bobby Mitchell left record producing, changed his name to Bobby Tripp, and became a giant at KHJ in Los Angeles. He died of leukemia in 1968.
Memories...
Maybe Rush can get this added to the play list with vocals added. Nice Job!
Thanks for sharing the memories.
