Haven't heard the Beau Brummels in ages. The little label in San Francisco that recorded them and the Mojo Men was created by two of the giants of early rock-n-roll radio who left the game to become producers.

Tom Donahue and Bobby Mitchell had pioneered rock radio in Philadelphia in 1956 when they turned WIBG from a religious station to a rock giant. Donahue ended up in San Francisco, first in radio, and then in records, before dying from complications of morbid obesity in the early Seventies. (His daughter, who had the same problem, died shortly after him.)

Bobby Mitchell left record producing, changed his name to Bobby Tripp, and became a giant at KHJ in Los Angeles. He died of leukemia in 1968.
