And gas prices going down.
Surely this will give Bush a bump in the near future?
Only if the campaign breaks the good news embargo. Fox news ain't gonna cut it.
The defeatism and subtle jibes at Bush as people believe they sense defeat are pathetic. Where is the sense of conviction that is essential for victory? Where is Reagan's eternal optimism?
These poll numbers are based on media spin, not the realistic assessment of the economy or war.
The President has a clear vision he has articulated repeatedly. It is a faith based, strong defense, low tax vision. This isn't at issue. The issue upon which the election will turn is whether the President can breach the illusion of negativity his enemies have woven about him. If he can do so, the Truth will triumph no matter what any poll before election day cites.
I'm not sure how to accomplish the task, though defeatism is something I have no desire to associate with. If that becomes the prevalent attitude then those who wallowed in it will bear some culpability if defeat occurs.
I do not trust the media. These numbers are meant to demoralize the core and raise doubts among the undecided. If the election had already been decided in Kerry's favor there would be no need for the daily obsession they have with these numbers. Their rhetoric would not be as shrill. There is something I cannot put a finger on that isn't quite right.
The behavior of the Dems is at odds with the certainty being spoken that President Bush's fate will be the same as his father's. People who are certain of victory do not act as they are.
What I do know is that no one, save the Almighty, can predict what the future will bring. No voter, no pundit, nor any polling service can tell US, the American people, how we will vote when the day arrives. They can only determine after the fact that x issue led to defeat, then produce a source that conveniently backs up their position in order to appear.
This isn't meant as a pep talk. I'm more of a realist. I know the American people are of a dual nature. How else to describe both a Clinton presidency and a Reagan presidency within a span of 20? I do hold hope. I do have faith. I do believe God has a purpose and it is meant for us to embrace not throw a hissy fit because we didn't receive all we desired.
The attitude that should be projected here is one of confidence. Perseverance. And rather, of thanksgiving. That we have again been given a leader who is willing to lay his Presidency on the line and that we have the FREEDOM to continue to advocate for conservatism. If you don't like some of the positions he has advocated, this country offers the opportunity to alter those positions. A freedom that I wonder will exist with a loss this fall.
The American people will all have a clear choice this November. I, for one, am not willing to write them off at this juncture.
The chief difference between Bush and Reagan comes down to communcation skills.
Reagan was the master, Bush is not exactly great at it.
If Bush is successful at using the bully pulpit to tout his successes he'll win. If not, not.
The Bush camp is not really giving a solid reason why to the people why he should be re elected. While the likes of Limbuagh and Beck may be trumpeting "The best economy in 20 years" it is time we ask why do the American people feel so insecure economically?
Back in 84, the media was trying to tear Reagan apart on the economy, and there was no FOX news and Conservative talk radio did not really exist yet, what did Reagan do that Bush is failing to do?
