I saw her giving a speech some time ago, and I find it hard to believe she's a conservative.

I don't think that she's a conservative. She did help with Jerry Doyle's campaign for Congress a few years ago. Jerry ran as a Republican. However, I think that she and her husband, Bruce Boxleitner, helped out of personal loyalty to Jerry. Boxleitner and Doyle were castmates on Babylon 5.
