Not planning to watch the broadcast, nor do I have a high opinion of Mike Wallace, but for the record, Wallace has known Nancy since the early 1940's, years before she met Ronald Reagan. Wallace worked at a radio station in Chicago where Nancy's mother also was working at the time, and got to know the family.
It will be interesting to see "60 Minutes II," and how it handles the Reagan story. From what I understand, the interview was done more than 20 years ago, during President Reagan's first term in the White House. Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I think Wallace will give Mr. Reagan his due. You mentioned Wallace's 60-year friendship with Mrs. Reagan; he also became friends with Mr. Reagan when he covered his 1976 bid for the GOP Presidential nomination. And, BTW, Wallace stunned the "panel" on Larry King Saturday night with some comments that (ordinarily) would be grounds for dismissal at CBS News.
