Yikes.
At today's prices, they are worth stealing just for the propane. From the size I'd guess about 2000-4000 gallons per truck? Also, not THAT easy to turn them into a bomb. They'd burn real good, though.
Is it that liquid propane burns but doesn't blow up (like kerosene), but the gas blows up good??
Paging chemists everywhere....
LPG Will Make Big Boom.
All your LP Boom belong to us.
Yeah, except there was also ten cylinders of oxygen and nitrous oxide also stolen from an ambulance company.Add the nitrous oxide or oxygen or both to the propane,ignite and you got one hell of a bang.
If you would like to conduct an experiment, go down to Home Depot and buy a Propane Tank for a gas Grill. Then take you 38 and take around 500 to 600 paces back and shoot the 2.5 gallon tank.
See what happens, Big Boom.

This is hugh, very series. I'll be in the shower...
Yeah, I just read that on another thread. It was an eerie feeling: I was thinking "unless I had an oxider..."
Odd they would steal the oxygen. I would have scammed it from a home health care outfit, and not in the same town.
deferent =different
I seem to remember a LP truck blew up on a highway, seems like it leveled everything within a 1/4 mile.
It will cause a BLEVE-boiling liquid expanding vopor explosion. A tanker would be a great big one. THey can also let the gas escape. It then runs over the ground looking somewhat like a ground hugging London fog. If it's lit, there's a vast whoosh/boom and lots of destruction for ~>sq.mi.
One good thing in the FBI's favor, its not real easy to hide 2 propane tanker trucks. Rather easy to spot going down the highway, or parked for that matter. And if 2 Ay-rab
types pull into a warehouse asking to store their 2 tanker trucks inside, I would hope the owner would get a tad suspicious.
They can BLEVE. You don't want to be around one when it happens.
Not that easy to turn airliners into bombs either.
