The world's first Science Fiction Museum opens June 18 in Seattle under the auspices of billionaire Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. A cast of Sci-Fi heavy hitters populate the project's advisory board, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ray Bradbury and Sir Arthur C. Clarke. The Museum shares space in an architectural flight of fancy by Frank Gehry that also houses the Allen-funded Experience Music Project at the base of the Space Needle.

I'm sure it will live long and prosper.
How long 'til someone posts a picture of the Tron guy?
The Museum shares space in an architectural flight of fancy . "Flight of fancy," my eye. It's really ugly. (De gustibus non dispundandum est.)
ALso interesting that it's "sharing" space with the EMP. There was a report a little while back that the EMP was not doing too well.

I agree with your assessment of the architecture of the EMP. "Ugly" barely does it justice. That said, though, if you are into guitars and music played on guitars, the EMP is a total blast. A museum dedicated to science fiction would fit right in.
Finally, a place worthy to host the Libertarian Party convention.
My sister works at the EMP and says the museum is completely screwed up right now. No direction, the management does not have a clue what they are doing, and the direction of the museum is now hopelessly confused.
Yes the museum is butt ugly.
I was glad to see us providing that extra security for Paul Allen's investment.
Who cares about Allen? The important thing is a Sci-Fi museum. Long overdue. It may have some problems in getting started but it can only improve over time. Take a look at who's on the advisory board!
Oh lord, I remember being 10 years old and listening on
a little crystal set shaped like a rocket, you pulled the
nose cone in and out to adjust the reception, to a program
on WLS called X minus 1. Sci-Fi radio plays, awesome!
This at a time when there was NO Sci-Fi on TV, infact our
TV only worked about 12 hours out of the day, we would turn it on and watch the (some of you will remember this),Indian head "test pattern" til programing started.
It seems this is an Allen project. In which case I can tell you one thing about the museum in advance...it's only purpose is to make Allen money and will be as over-priced as the EMP.
RocketShip Video has a different sci-fi radio show everyday, free, online. Some of them are 'X Minus One.'
My sister has e-mailed me pics of lots of kewl stuff at the museum as they have been receiving it. McCoy's spinny medical tricorder gizmo, pulse rifles from Aliens, Queen from Aliens, if you are a sci fi junkie, you will love the stuff there.
Under the "Science Fiction" link they also have Dimension X and some other classic SF radio shows.
I wonder if this is a prelude to phasing out the Experience Music Project. Most people that I've talked to regard the EMP as a dud, a bore, and overpriced.
I want to know if they'll have a wing dedicated to Mystery Science Theater.
The EMP looks like the medical waste from a heart transplant.
I hope this is incomparable dialogue is part of the dedication ceremony:
In A.D. 2101
War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's You !!

Cats: You are on the way to destruction.
Captain: What you say !!
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time.
Cats: HA HA HA HA ....

Captain: You know what you doing.
