At that point, Honeycutt pulled out his own 9 mm from the back of his pants and fired 15 times, hitting the would-be robber at least 10 times, killing him.

Nothing a few hours at the range won't cure. Honeycutt will have it down to a double-tap to the chest next time (assuming he is using +p JHP.)

I agree with your sentiments, however, Mr. Honeycutt has no right to complain if he took his job with Pizza Hut knowing of their 'no firearms' policy and then proceeded to flout it and break it. His termination was inevitable and he should thank his lucky stars he is alive and take his lumps for violating the company policy.

Pizza Hut -- like any other corporation which gives a sh*t about its stockholders -- has no choice but to listen to its lawyers. Or, it can ignore its lawyers and leave itself open to being sued into oblivion.

At best, Honeycutt took a calculated risk when he decided to ignore the company policy. No one forced him to work for PH, and he was always free to find a job more to his liking. He couldn't stand the heat but, instead of getting out of the kitchen, he put his job -- as well as his employer -- at risk. He's lucky.

When I'm on company time, I abide by the employer's policies. The RKBA stops at the door (and/or on the clock).

I'll keep buying Pizza Hut pizza.

Even though I haven't eaten one of their lousy pizzas for years it was fun to send them an e-mail telling them that I wouldn't be back, and I was going to tell all my family and friends. And I did ask that they contact me.

Well, in Pizza Hut's defense, they are probably going to be facing a huge legal case from this loser's family for vicarious liability in the shooting death. Even though the delivery guy won't face criminal charges, the company may face a legal suit. Is that right? NO, but even if the suit goes nowhere it will still cost them a pretty penny in legal fees. I can see where they are coming from.

On the other hand, they should not have a delivery area that includes known dangerous areas.

Here's what I wrote to them:

"Ronald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years...."

Pizza Hut was NUTS to fire Mr. Honeycutt. No company policy should require someone to choose between protecting his life and giving his life for the company profits. Mr. Honeycutt was legally entitled to carry this means of self-protection. He was declared justified in his use of it. If anything, Pizza Hut should give him special recognition that as an employee of Pizza Hut he has helped to make the delivery neighborhood just a bit safer for everyone.

Do y'all what the average pizza driver to be packing heat?

I delivered pizzas when I was in my 20s. And I was one of the sober ones. Most of the drivers that I worked with were either drunk or stoned when they were out driving. Bad enough they had a 3,000 piece of metal out there, ya want them carrying a gun, too?

They guy saved his ass, that's great. He broke his employer's rules while doin it. Like somebody else said...if he didn't like the rules, he was free to leave.
