While the media remain fixated on the plight of Muslim prisoners in Iraq, they have largely ignored the danger that radicalized Muslim prisoners pose here at home. The Justice Department's inspector general this month released a disturbing report that exposed federal prisons as a fertile breeding ground for terrorists. It was a red alert on a bureaucratic failure that jeopardizes not only other inmates and prison employees, but also the country at large. Yet it got next to no notice.
Islamic extremists have infiltrated jails worldwide to lure convicts to their murderous cause. The problem is thought to be much worse in Europe. For example, Richard Reid, the "Shoe Bomber," converted to Islam with the help of an extremist imam in a British prison. In France, thousands of Muslim inmates have been schooled in jihad against "the Western powers and the Jews who manipulate them," as one widely circulated prison pamphlet puts it. Radicalized French detainees have reportedly erected a "terrorist university" behind bars offering anti-Western material and instruction in bomb-making.
But we know it happens in America, too. Jose Padilla, the accused "Dirty Bomber," converted to Islam during a stint at a Broward County, Fla., jail and is alleged to have fallen in with terrorist recruiters after his release.
And Aqil Collins, a self-confessed jihadist turned FBI informant, converted to Islam while doing time in a California juvenile detention center. At a terrorist camp in Afghanistan, he went on to train with one of the men accused of kidnapping and beheading Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
Yet the inspector general's report warned that even the relatively well-managed federal prison system has lagged on addressing the threat.
The report was done at the request of Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) after The Wall Street Journal reported on the scandalous employment of Warith Deen Umar, former head Islamic chaplain of New York's state prison system, who also served as a federal U.S. Bureau of Prisons (BOP) contractor.
The Journal quoted Umar saying at a public event, "Even Muslims who say they are against terrorism secretly admired and applaud [the 9/11 hijackers]." It also reported Umar stating he believed black inmates who converted to Islam in prison were logical recruits for committing future terrorist attacks against America. Both state and federal officials fired him in the wake of the article.
The BOP's 105 facilities hold 150,000 inmates (6 to 17 percent of them Muslim) - just a small fraction of the total U.S. prison population of 2 million. I shudder to think how al Qaeda is doing among the much larger population in the 50 state systems. In New York, Umar had free rein to hire more than 40 Muslim chaplains over 25 years.
The inspector general found that the BOP has also been lax - thanks in no small part to political correctness:

It makes perfect sense for the religion of Satan to recruit those that have already demonstrated their are unwilling to live in a civil society. The prison system must be one of the first places where this poisonous doctrine is banned.
My father knows a state prison guard here in PA and the guy says that an amazing number of the inmates there are saying they are muslim, and they get all kinds of outrageous special treatment and benefits that inmates who aren't muslim don't get.

Yes most prisoners are stupid losers. Farrakhan has been recruiting here for years. Remember some things are easier to promote to stupid people. Islam seems to have an abundance of stupidity, Take for instance Bin Laden , a rich man hiding in a hole sneaking around afraid to be seen when he could be living in the lap of luxury. or John kerry married to one of the richest women in the world wanting to be President, on an ego trip.
Actually no. I work in a prison and I can tell you I deal with many inmates that very bright, those are the dangerous ones. Some have also been very 'successful' making millions of dollars on illegal enterprises and carving themselves quite a reputation among their peers who value that sort of thing. What I see the most is idolatry, worship of money that is what drives most criminals.
Actually it seems they're ignoring colleges. I believe the problem is worse there, and this is a straw man.

Just the same, wouldn't intelligent inmates like these be rather unlikely recruits to Islam? Except as just one more scam, that is.

And no, this is not a joke site. It's real Muslims asking real questions so they can be told what to think and do by the Imam.
There is nothing complex about taking an AK47 or a knife and killing people. They probably won't be asked to fly a plane into a building but they can be the sic killers that they already are.
"Stupid looser" or not, the army that is being created is just the thing to create diversions when a pinpointed attack is made on a specific objective, by such things as prank calls made to 9-1-1 or fire and police departments just minutes before the real objective is hit, so the resources are jammed up whin the critical call comes in. Convenience stores hit simultaneously, or a staged "accident" at a crucial intersection, or even a series of dumpster fires, would seem to be coincidental at first.
And it is always good to have cannon fodder between you and the home defense team.
After the next mega-terrorist hit here in the US, I foresee numerous Attica-style uprisings, and the slaughter of Muslim garbage of all stripes, in those prisons.
That demonseed has been planted and growing for the past 40+ years, and it's about to explode.
I'm not so sure now. Moslem recruitment could be a subversive activity, converting violent people and focusing them towards the wrong places.

You would think but knowing that pirates and brigands were among the very first to be recruited and converted to Islam it must have some appeal to those that seek money and power above all else. I can't explain the appeal of Islam except to say Lucifer is a seductive master.
