The problem with having John Wayne Gacy's brain in your basement is that people want to see it. Or at least they think they want to see it. Certainly, they want to know how you got it and why you keep it there.
These are issues facing Helen Morrison, a psychiatrist who has had the serial killer's brain in the basement of her Chicago home for the last decade, resting, more or less, in peace.
Gacy was executed after being convicted of murdering 33 young men and boys during the 1970s and burying most of their bodies in the crawl space under his house in Norwood Park Township, an unincorporated area surrounded by Harwood Heights and the Far Northwest Side of Chicago
His body was either cremated or buried in a location that has never been disclosed by his mother--now dead--or sisters who, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the tragedy, have managed to stay well out of public reach.
But on the 10th anniversary of Gacy's execution, the subject of his brain and its whereabouts emerged somewhat startlingly as Morrison set off on a tour to publicize her new book, "My Life Among the Serial Killers."
In an interview on CNN earlier this month, Morrison revealed that the brain is in her basement, "the safest place it can be." Morrison had been more cautious a few days earlier when she declined to tell a reporter for the Associated Press where she kept the brain.
"It depends on the audience," Morrison said in an interview. "We have it in our home in an area in the basement that is secure and not accessible."

As long as she doesn't do something naughty in front of it, I don't see what's the problem.

No. He did NOT sexually abuse his victims. He sodomized them before killing them. As any Democrat will tell you, there's nothing wrong with that. As far as we know, it was consensual sex. Then Gacy just got too enthusiastic and killed his young paramours. Move along, nothing to see here. MoveOn. Just MoveOn.
I would think that there are other medical specialities that could do more forensically with it than a shrink.
More likely more if was "fresh" rather than years later.

And what's with the title of the article? Public school educated reporter AND editor?
Yep, he did that. S & M gay sex was his thing. Obviously, he took it to the extreme. The reason why this isn't mentioned, the sexual abuse, is that in the Chicago area, pretty much everyone, even people not alive when he was caught, knows about Gacy.
