WASHINGTON -- Scientists studying earthshine -- the amount of light reflected by the Earth -- say the planet appeared to dim from 1984 to 2001 and then reversed its trend and brightened from 2001 to 2003.
The shift appears to have resulted from changes in the amount of clouds covering the planet. More clouds reflect more light back into space, potentially cooling the planet, while a dimmer planet with fewer clouds would be warmed by the arriving sunlight.

It is because the cloud of stench originating from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. left in Jan 2001. Darkness and LIES gave way to Truth and Light.
The answer my friend is written in the wind....
Then the Clinton years WERE the Dark Ages...
Dimmer planet, fewer clouds, warmer temps...from 1984? Isn't that when the global warming nonsense started?
And they can say that is started in the '80's????
These "scientists" are really on the ball. Can they tell us also how warm it was in the Dinosaur days?
Aren't these the same guys who get the current weather wrong 50% of the time?
"...reversed it's trend and brightened from 2001 to 2003."
That means, of course...that it is Bush's fault.
