Clancy's got a severe case of "reading his own news clips."

I thought Hannity did an excellent job of showing
up Zinni's hypocrisy. I could turn off the sound and tell
Zinni is an unsavory character. He had that "Dick Clark" look.

For sure! For a guy who never wore a uniform, he sure became an expert on all things military, in his own mind!

Poohbah, your post says it all. I hope you won't mind if I repost:
Zinni ordered the USS Cole to refuel in Yemen instead of refueling underway, and gave a lot of advance notice to the Yemeni government (and, hence, to al-Qaeda). He then opposed any retaliation for the attack on the Cole, stating that it would annoy the Pakistanis.
He now is a director in a Pakistani telecommunications venture.
He got his golden parachute. All it cost was 17 American sailors.

Unsavory isn't a word I would use to describe Zinni. He served his country well and once he left military service he did what anyone else would do who hasn't made real money in 40 years.
He sold himself to the highest bidder. Unfortunately that was the left.

Ronald Rayguns made Clancy, when he praised "Red Storm Raising".
Clancy also believes that Georgetown (Clinton's alma mater) is the best in the world.

Israel and anti-semitism aside, Zinni has dishonored
himself by hawking a political book while this nation is at war.
The General's quotes, posted on this thread, directly contradicting what
he is now saying, prove him to be an opportunist. His affiliation
with the commie front group, CDI, outs him as a leftist shill.
He is a disgrace.

Perhaps "whore" fits him better.

Yeah, I guess being a registered Republican, who voted for Bush makes Zinni "a disgrace".

He is a disgrace.I'm not sure it's fair to say he's disgraced himself, but he has chosen to enter the political sphere based on his military career. We wouldn't be discussing LtCol Zinni, retd, nor would he be involved in book or telecommunications deal. As a political animal, his actions are fair game, he can't wrap the flag around him. Interestingly he seem to have chosen a side where duplicity is accepted.

How do you know who he voted for?
Look, the guy has pulled a Scott Ritter.....Ritter himself was once an
honorable guy, until he sold out for his 20 pieces of silver (400 K).

Yes, it is by becoming a "political animal" that he has, indeed, disgraced himself.
Read the quotes attributed to him above.
Zinni was a hawk on Iraq when BJ Clinton was his CIC.

I am one of those "Israel has done no wrong' crowd. They are trying to protect them and theirs. There is no higher calling for a nation.
Zinni has forgotten that. I don't trust any generals today. They have been steeped in leftist CO2 (Care and Consideration of Others=CO2) training, and sensitized. Patton wouldn't recognize the General Officer Corps today. He would be disgusted, to say the least.

So Kent, are you one of those " Oh,Israel can do no wrong !" people ?Nope. But there's a far, cavernous and -- for any reasonable, thinking adult not skulking about, fearfully, in mortal dread of imaginary "neo-con cabals" and muttering darkly about how "our country's been bought and paid for by our Israeli masters" and suchlike -- obvious distance between, say:
"Israel, just like any other dedicated democracy, is a trustworthy and valued ally, even if we disagree with one another occasionally, as sister nations in good faith inevitably will";
-- and --
"Israel is our ally only when it suits Israel's purpose."
The first example is something a sane and rational person might say, upon due consideration of the facts on the ground, re: the verifiable history of the American/Israeli relationship. It is distinguished, chiefly, by a complete and utter lack of resemblance to the second example provided.

Formed in 1973 as a project of the tax-exempt Fund for Peace(FFP). CDI and its sister FFP projects - the Center for National Security Studies(CNSS) and the Center for International Policy(CIP) - are spin-offs from projects initiated by the Institute for Policy Studies(IPS), the Washington-based , internationally active revolutionary think-tank. I'd be curious to know if the Venona documents mention any of these groups as being funded by the Soviet Union during its time of pushing the 'peace movement' in the 70s and 80s.
