Meet Jim Holt - Arkansas Senate Candidate
Jim Holt's Web Site ^

Senator Holt began his public service as a representative in the Arkansas House after being elected by the people of the fifth district back in 2000. He was later elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2002, where he currently serves the 35th district. Jim has a proven conservative record. He is pro-ethics, pro-education, and pro-business. He is motivated by his faith, and has pledged upon his sacred honor to defend our faith, freedom, families, and our limited form of government (as defined by our Constitution).

Of all the issues facing America today, Senator Holt knows it is imperative that we confront our Nation’s runaway Judiciary and its power-grabbing efforts to make the Constitution a document that means whatever a judge personally wants it to mean. "They have usurped the powers of the legislative and executive branches, and have stolen the rights of the people. They have gone unchallenged long enough."

Jim has been an advocate for the elderly, the disabled, and the unborn. He fought hard against the "Nursing Home Bed Tax". He co-sponsored and was an integral part of the passage of the "Woman’s right to Know" bill of 2001 and the "Ultra Sound" bill of 2003, helping to reduce abortions in Arkansas. Jim is one of the key legislators bringing the Veteran’s Nursing Home to Northwest Arkansas. He was endorsed by the National Rifle Association in his 2002 Arkansas Senate race (current endorsement pending). Jim’s legislative record has placed him among the top five legislators who consistently vote against new taxes and fees. He was the only senator in the 2003 session and one of only five representatives in 2001 who voted against his own pay raise. Jim authored ACT 1730; which holds political parties accountable by requiring them to report contributions and expenditures.

Senator Holt has been appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Board for TEEN PACT, a Christian organization that trains young people to be political leaders who will impact the nation and the world. He was one of 25 Legislators nation-wide who attended the Foundations Forum; a conservative assembly designed to help America’s leaders bring the country back to the principles upon which it was founded.

Jim was born in Camden, Arkansas and was reared in Northwest Arkansas. He’s lived in both farming country and suburbia. His fondest memories were on the farm with his grandfather. He joined the military in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army Joint Intelligence Operations at the National Security Agency under the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton. Jim was involved in highly classified operations during the Cold War, the ousting of Noriega from Panama, and Operation Desert Storm. While working at NSA, he served as Watch Officer, Senior Team Manager, Analyst, and Linguist. He received his training at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, Good Fellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Jim also studied science and pre-med. at the University of Maryland.

Jim has been happily married to his sweetheart Bobye Barenberg for 17 years. They have eight children. They are members of Bible Grace Fellowship in Springdale, Ark. where he serves as an Elder. He was ordained as a minister in 1996 through the Southern Baptist Church.

Jim is running for US Senate "because of love: Love for Christ, love for my family, love for this great country, and love for the people of Arkansas." Jim will continue to stand for what is right. He will continue to have a listening-ear and a servant’s heart toward the people of Arkansas. He would consider it an honor to serve as our next U.S. senator.

FReepers and conservatives all over Arkansas are delighted with the victory of Sen. Jim Holt in Tuesday's primary by a wide margin over his two opponents. Those of us who have met Jim fast became avid supporters. It is my understanding that the Arkansas RATs can't stand this man, and that's to his credit, because he stands for everything they hate and are threatened by. I've been told that the Arkansas Democrat Gazette has already done a hit piece on him and really downplayed his victory in the primary. I don't read that claptrap very often so I will defer to Travelgirl on this one.

Sen. Holt is at a big disadvantage taking on the incumbent; Hillary clone, Blanche Lincoln, who is backed by millions from democRAT donors, apparently none of which are even from Arkansas and even now has her people manning the phones to annoy everyone in the state of Arkansas soliciting votes. As an unpretentious man of modest means, Jim needs all the help he can get with his campaign.

While he may fall short from the perspective of political handicapping, Jim has the hearts of his supporters and a strong faith in God, which is a pretty good place to start, especially considering that dishonesty, voter fraud and seething hatred are the most powerful tools in the democRAT arsenal. It is vital that we acquire a decisive majority in the Senate and we need to throw our support behind those candidates who stand for our values and for the Constituion.

Jim Holt is also a FReeper...though he hasn't really had the time to do much posting, what with the campaign and his new son. Hopefully we will hear from him occasionally, though. I hope that FReepers all over will generously support this worthy candidate.

He is great candidate...but it won't be a picnic taking on the forces of darkness, which is exactly what he'll be doing against the screeching Hillary clone.

"Lite" only from lack of practice.

Looks like I will be spending a lot of time in Fayetteville in the coning weeks. I hope to get to spend some time with you and hopefully with Jim as well. I think a lot of prayer and hard work is in order for the upcoming Arkansas Senate race. Hopefully the RATs will underestimate Jim's chances. Candidates should not be able to buy (or steal) themselves an election.

He has our vote! Blanche is running so many ads that I have to turn the channel to keep from throwing something at my television. Of course, they are ALL LIES!

Only because she couldn't be elected if SHE TOLD THE TRUTH about where she stands (like most of the other DEMOCRATS).

That's why I'm hoping people will support Jim financially. He doesn't have the kind of money to throw around that the RAT machine does.

Thanks! I will send him a donation and encourage others to do the same.

BTW, I received this today from Mike Ross. I wonder who he considers a "working family"?

IDIOT ALERT...

MIKE'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Who Will Pay for Today’s Irresponsible Tax Cuts?

This week in Congress, I voted for a responsible child tax credit that would have provided much-needed relief to Arkansas's working families, while not adding a dime to our national debt. The tax credit I voted for would have permanently extended the $1,000 child tax credit, and would have let working families who earn $10,000 or more claim the credit.

Unfortunately, the House majority passed a child tax credit that seeks to make tax cuts to families whose incomes are between $110,000 and $270,000 permanent, yet only extends the tax credit for low-income workers for one year! And how does the majority want to pay for this massive tax cut? By adding to our nation's swelling national debt - the largest in our nation's history. When our country is $8 trillion in the red, we must pass tax cuts that are fiscally responsible, and unfortunately, the bill passed in Congress this week fails to do that.

Also this week, the House majority passed an incredibly irresponsible budget that digs deeper into our national debt, while at the same time, slashes funding for important domestic programs, including education, rural water projects, grants for our rural fire departments, and law enforcement. This budget also fails to protect and preserve Social Security, which will be broke by 2042.

It simply makes no sense to enact a budget that creates billions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthiest people in America by borrowing the money to pay for these cuts from our children and grandchildren. Our grandparents' generation left this country a little bit better off than they found it for our parents' generation, and our parents' did the same for our generation. I believe we have a duty and an obligation to leave this country better off than we found it for our children and grandchildren. It is wrong to continue to borrow $1.1 billion a day to fund tax cuts for the rich and leave our children and grandchildren with the bill.

Ever since I was a kid, it never computed how people could be better off with the government taking their money than having control of their own money. It makes even less sense than any real person who works for a living could support such a notion. Any time I hear attacks on tax cuts or noises of tax increases, they've lost me. I would think anybody with any sense would react the same way.

Holt looks like a fine candidate. I wonder why he has thus far been dismissed as a serious contender for the Senate. Is it because of the popularity of the clintoid Lincoln? Or is it that he lacks statewide name ID? There was a Democrat named "Frank Holt" who ran for governor in the 1960s. Could Jim Holt be a relative of Frank Holt?

I'm not aware that Blanche Lincoln is necessarily popular. Heck, she's so invisible I doubt many people even know who she is. It's just that to unseat any incumbent, you need good name ID or a ton of cash. Holt is a great guy, but he lacks either asset to make this race competitive.

"I'm not aware that Blanche Lincoln is necessarily popular. Heck, she's so invisible I doubt many people even know who she is."

She's a RAT. That's all these stepford voters care about, especially the black ones. They vote en masse and they vote often. They plan altercations to divert attention away from their voter fraud and the NAACP holds their hands in the voting booth. This state is corrupt through and through. Maybe our candidates would have more of a chance if the national Republican party didn't act as if we don't exist.

tough spot there, in Alabama we had the same problem, but we finally have two good conservative Senators. It takes a while for the South to realize the GOP better represents their interests

Yes, Holt is a good candidate, but no one can unseat an incumbent liberal Democrat in AR. Has anyone done so since Frank D. White upset Bill Clinton for one two-year term in 1980?
