IFI Defends Boy Scouts Against 'Gay' Bigotry, Calls on United Way to Reinstate Funding to Chicago Scouts

GLEN ELLYN, May 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Peter LaBarbera, Executive Director of the Illinois Family Institute, issued the following statement in response to planned homosexual protests against the Boy Scouts of America's annual National Council Conference, which runs from May 19-21 at the Hyatt-Regency Hotel in Chicago:
Homosexual activists led by the Chicago Anti-Bashing Network and Scouting for All continue their vicious campaign against the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). They say that the Scouts are "bigots" because they do not allow homosexuals and atheists to be part of an organization that affirms belief in God and teaches boys to be "morally straight."
In reality, the homosexual lobby is practicing its own form of bigotry by demonizing individuals and groups for following a moral and faith tradition that has served humanity well for centuries. The vitriol mouthed by homosexual militants far surpasses anything coming from the Scouts and their defenders. We remind the public that 'Morality Is Not Prejudice,' despite fervent attempts by "gay" activists to redefine Judeo-Christian teachings as bigotry and "homophobia."
Due to legal challenges from homosexual lawyers' groups such as the Lambda Legal (which has a Chicago office), the Boy Scouts came within one vote in the U.S. Supreme Court of losing their freedom to live by their own moral code. That would have been a devastating loss of liberty not just to the Scouts, but to all Americans, regardless of their creed. Now the homosexual lobby strives to punish the Scouts, falsely comparing them to racist fringe groups. This is ironic since the Scouts, including the Chicago Area Council, have a long history of helping disadvantaged African-American youth.
Homosexual groups are pressuring local governments to disassociate from the BSA, and private groups like United Way to de-fund the cherished boys' group. Last year, United Way Chicago (UWC) slashed funding by 93 percent to the Scouts' Chicago Area Council-following meetings with "gay" pressure groups and internal debates among UWC staffers. UWC officials claimed the de-funding had nothing to do with the BSA's policy against homosexuality, but Chicago Scout officials strongly suspected otherwise. They said they were badly mistreated by United Way Chicago in applying for an annual grant -- even though UWC and the BSA were historic partners. United Way Chicago rejected the Scouts' appeal to restore the funding, so the Scouts pulled out of UWC, hoping to better raise the funds on their own.
We at Illinois Family Institute call on United Way Chicago to reinstate substantial funding to the Chicago Boy Scouts because it is the right thing to do. We stand by the Scouts and against liberal bigotry that puts the demands of a sexual special interest group above the well-being of boys.
haven't heard much about any protests. they not normally very large, a few gay ex-Scouts show up (last year I think it was 12)

I will never give a dime to the leftist United Way. They can go pound sand.
Find a charity your boss or better yet your boss's wife likes (pediatric cancer ward furniture or Salvation Army) and donate your money to them.
Avoid the United Way at all cost. Heck, tell them with gas at $2.00/gallon that you can't afford a charitable contribution this year but will get to it next year.
Pass the word and avoid the United Way.

Sure looks as though the mask of "tolerance" is off of the homosexual activists and radicals. Speaking of which, if the homosexuals who are trying to destroy the Boy Scouts are just fringe radicals, where are the "moderate gays" we hear so much about? The only one I hear from is Tammy Bruce.
My hope is the viciousness with which the homosexual radicals are attacking an honorable and beloved institution such as the BSA will wake up people who have been reluctant to take sides.

Reminds me of the homosexual beginnings of the Nazis - read "The Pink Swastika" and find out about it. Many of the (widely homosexual) Storm Troopers had been members of a homosexual youth group.
