Thanks for the post. Nice to see.
Thats CAPTAIN CHONTOSH TO YOU "MAGGOT"!!! Sorry, been watching to much Mail Call I guess.
Probably won't make a Micheal Moore movie either.
I don't think the Marines will mind if I post this bit:
While leading his platoon north on Highway 1 toward Ad Diwaniyah, Chontosh's platoon moved into a coordinated ambush of mortars, rocket propelled grenades and automatic weapons fire. With coalition tanks blocking the road ahead, he realized his platoon was caught in a kill zone.
He had his driver move the vehicle through a breach along his flank, where he was immediately taken under fire from an entrenched machine gun. Without hesitation, Chontosh ordered the driver to advance directly at the enemy position, enabling his .50 caliber machine gunner to silence the enemy.
He then directed his driver into the enemy trench, where he exited his vehicle and began to clear the trench with an M16A2 service rifle and 9 millimeter pistol. His ammunition depleted, Chontosh, with complete disregard for his safety, twice picked up discarded enemy rifles and continued his ferocious attack.
When a Marine following him found an enemy rocket propelled grenade launcher, Chontosh used it to destroy yet another group of enemy soldiers.
When his audacious attack ended, he had cleared over 200 meters of the enemy trench, killing more than 20 enemy soldiers and wounding several others.
WOW - That citation reads like it should have been an MOH.
Nah - just another day for a Marine.
That sounds like a genuINE Alvin York moment.
If that's typical, then God Bless the Corps! [yet again]
And how is this a bad thing? :-)

"The odd fact about the American media in this war is that it's not covering the American military. The most plugged-in nation in the world is receiving virtually no true information about what its warriors are doing."
Ain't it the truth. Like moost freepers I'm a news junkie, (LOL I'll even watch the weather channel) but it's getting to the point where I can't stand to watch the tv news, or read the paper.
A challenge I've given to a couple of young leftists I know, for the next week count up the number of positive stories coming from Iraq and the number of negative, then tell me there's no bias.
I am with you. They (press0 are blaming the Pentagon for lack of coverage. A local TV news guy is in Camp Anaconda and getting better stories that the big boys. Makes you wonder if they just sit in the hotel all day and watch their own coverage,
