More than two weeks after she was brutally assaulted in her south Minneapolis bookstore, the bruises on Lynn Murray's face still show.
[...]
On May 1, a Saturday, two young thugs entered her establishment, The Book Trader store, in the middle of the day. They pounded on her with their fists and kicked her before stealing money and some of the collectibles she sells.

Six blocks away, Susan Knox is dealing with a different sort of bruising, the internal kind. Knox, 40, is the mother of the two who allegedly assaulted Murray. On the day before Mother's Day, Knox turned her sons in to Minneapolis police.

"It was hard," said Knox of the decision to tell authorities her sons had done the crime. "I love my boys. But the buck stops here. If I don't stop it, maybe it keeps going. If I don't do something my boys might think, 'Mom knows what's going on and she thinks it's cool.' I don't think it's cool."

"You know what my nieces and nephews say?" she asked. 'Glad you're not our mom.' But my minister says I did the right thing."

Bookmark the bang_list. This is not a "ping" list (no one maintains a list of interested FReepers). It is a do-it-yourself, see-what's-been-bumped-to-the list. Anyone can bump an article to the list by sending it To: *bang_list Then, interested FReepers can (bookmark and) check the list periodically to see new articles. Please do not ask me to "add you to the list." It doesn't work like that. This is better than a ping list because (1) anyone can bump an article to the list, and any interested parties can see the list of articles 24x7.
Mom, I know it was hard to do, but you did the right thing.
