Reuters U.S. Crude Hits New Record Sunday May 16, 10:14 pm ET

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - U.S. light crude futures (CLc1) struck a new all-time record in electronic trading on Monday on worries that global supplies will strain to meet soaring demand. The market tipped an intraday peak at $41.59 a barrel in electronic ACCESS dealings, surpassing Friday's peak at $41.56 during floor trading in New York.

Prices have pushed to their highest levels since U.S. crude futures were launched in 1983 by fears that world supplies may be hard pressed to meet surging oil demand, which has been driven by healthy global economic growth, especially in the United States and China.

Oil markets are also concerned of possible sabotage attacks on vital oil infrastructure in the Middle East, home to two-thirds of global reserves, which would further test supplies.

well we certainly are going to be paying for it...

good thing that Oil companies are not racking it in … such a beautiful thing

also its great that we are getting taxed out of the ying yang because most of the price increases go straight

go state coffers to probably fund those really important programs like gay marriage effiency studies or something that important..

I hope im bitter and very wrong

I take the barell price and divide by 20 seems to always works for me in Ohio. I just paid 2.05 at $41 a barrell. If we get to $50 a barrell, I expect 2.50 gas.

Their names are Solo, Deer, Leopard, Safe and Sing, and thousands of them are on a boat headed this way.

U.S. car buyers will soon have a new option: very-low-priced Chinese cars, trucks and SUVs.

Four Houston partners will be exclusive dealers for two major manufacturers of Chinese cars for the entire state of Texas, with the first dealership scheduled to open in the city this summer.

It is probably feasible now. However, the capital cost of a $250 million facility is a significant challenge.
