Want a Different Abu Ghraid Story? Try This One
Wall St. Journal ^ | 5/14/04 | Daniel Henninger

By now, some Americans may feel the need for respite from the images of Abu Ghraib and the five hooded barbarians standing behind Nick Berg. This week's column will try to provide some measure of respite.

It is the story of Americans, in and out of the U.S. government, who moved mountains to help seven horribly maimed Iraqi men. It is not always pleasant reading, but there are rewards to staying with it, especially now.

Quite obviously it has been decided, as the handling of the Abu Ghraib story makes plain, that when America stumbles, we are going to have our faces rubbed in it. And rubbed in it and rubbed in it. As far as I can make out, the purpose of this two weeks of media humiliation is that we--the president, all of us--are being asked to morally prostrate ourselves before the rest of the world. Some may choose to do so, but this story should make a few Americans want to simply stand up straight again.

Freepers, we need some action.

Why will none of the networks, including Fox, run this documentary? We know why.

The better question is, can Freepers bring enough pressure on Fox to run this film?

I was told by the moderator that this thread had been pulled because the excerpt had not succeeded. So I posted it again and it apparently worked.

Sorry for the duplicate thread. But it is worth the read!

I agree...this is what we took part in earlier this week....we need to incessantly e-mail this story, both link and text, to the networks the next two days then start making calls. I am going to e-mail Kristin, JmStein and Dr. Raul this link. Get everyone involved to show the hypocrisy of the press!

Great story! On Fox News Sunday Chris Wallace asked people to send in stories of the good things going on in Iraq. This would definitely make a good report...but they would give it maybe 30-45 seconds at most.

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE: HERE IS SOME AIR TIME YOU CAN AND SHOULD BUY TO PUT ON NATIONAL TV!

Americans are da bomb, aren't we? When we put our mind to it, we can truly simultaneously kick ass and bandage wounds, can't we?

I'm walking taller today. Thanks for posting this!!

Thanks for posting this. I also remember a story about a child who was helped by our soldiers, about to die from a neck tumor or something and the father kept asking our military to help?
That's the real American spirit in action.

this is a pretty funny read about the prison thing for those who don't mind bad words. While I did wince at the language used, I was still able to appreciate the humor of the ideas expressed.

Oprah would love this story of 'humanitarianism' , the 'compassionate ' kind that comes from 'deep in the heart of Texas.'

Because the viewing public has been poisoned by the sensational, 30 second news bite and pix. All the media cares to do is create an image in the mind, kind of like brain washing. Thy care nothing for a real story and unfortunately, neither does the viewing public.

TV can run Abu Ghraib photos 24/7 but can't find 55 minutes for Saddam's crimes against humanity?

Why will none of the networks, including Fox, run this documentary?

This will air when Saddam's Trial begins before the Elections. The show trials are before the Election?
