It's not exactly like Zimbabwe. Mugabe (Zimbs pres) ordered land seizures. Lula is not. Nor is he promoting them. The gov also shut down a line of credit to MST from two agrarian reform funds the government manages until the group opens up its books to fiscal auditors. About 5 to 10% of the groups money comes from international NGOs.

Conspiracy theorists say that MST is part of a British operation to trip up Brazil's massive agricultural potential. Doubtful.
