It was pretty fun. It gave our 104 year old house a pretty good rattle. The husband and I awoke, laughed, and said, "Bitchin!"

My son, who now lives in Louisiana, has a girlfriend who is terrified of visitting California because of the earthquakes. She is on guard every visit. We have tried to convince her that most earthquakes are not dangerous and actually pretty fun. She remains unconvinced.

I was never afraid, just worried about the Santa Cruz/ San Francisco people during that quake..I was living in Goleta then and my vertical blinds swung enough for me to check the sliding door to see if it was open a bit.

Luckily I never felt one that big, though friends in California have had a pool empty itself. I missed the big ones. I lived there almost 10 years.

Your 104 year old house has withstood all kinds of quakes. The building codes to keep houses from falling down now are ridiculus. You can barely tear them down with a bulldozer!

What a surprise to hear that happened! I'm in Ventura and it apparently didn't reach this far. After five years in Ventura County, I've felt only one small quake - hope it stays that way!
