Ok, I'm ready to forgive your country for backstabbing us during "Iraqi Freedom". This squares it.

I wonder how the cocktail conservatives will handle this. Bush must have al qaida pretty ticked off these days. And as long as he has them ticked off, any conservative with any sense would support him. But no, says George Will, Bush supporters are "neocons", he says. "Neo" as in neo-nazi, "con" as in con artist. Yeah. I hope the cocktail conservatives keep talking and show us what lapdogs they are for the left.

Turkish TV said three of the suspects had been planning for as long as a year to blow themselves up with a bomb that would also kill Bush and other Western leaders.
The plot had reached a very advanced stage and terrorists had begun testing explosives One can only hope that test bombers were used, too.

Or as John Kerry might put it: one of our fraudulent coalition members, using Ashcroft-like tactics unilaterally violated the civil rights of its citizens in a desperate attempt to distract attention away from the economy, draw a wedge issue, and further exaggerate the terrorist threat.

Just curious- how were they going to blow themselves and Bush up with bomb and then flee to Iraq ?
Perhaps the author meant some were going to be stupid while the rest were going to run away and hide.

Think our unbiased, politically neutral print and broadcast media will be outraged by this plot, as outraged, say, as they are about Iraqi prisoners?

George Will is an over-rated, bloviating, talking head. Much of what he says is pure fantasy. The really sad thing is, that he is considered such a "deep thinker". His thought process is mired in deep **** alright!

Ironically, I asked an outraged woman at card club that very same question last night. Several were ranting about this treatment and one thought Rumsfeld should be fired immediately. I just about clocked her and put her through the lovely bay window but her new dental work stopped me.

What?
No terrorist plot to kill John Kerry?
Could it be that he's their friend?

Koksal said the terrorists planned to flee into Iraq to join the anti-U.S. terrorists after their "sensational" attack in Turkey.
Huh?

I'm not. If Turkey hadn't denied us access to northern Iraq, Saddam would not have had that route to use to hide his wmd in Syria.

In one article, it mentioned that they had 4000 "training" CDs, so presumably there were (are?) a lot more than just the group that was going to blow itself up. I imagine the former were the charmers who were going to flee to Iraq.

I don't take comfort in this just yet. There is always the possibility that these guys have wised up and allowed for a "decoy" capture to remove pressure from the active cell. It seems less and less likely that al Qaeda will continue to operate without contingencies -- like the inner skin of an oil tanker that can absorb the initial offending blow. With the amount of planning and money that goes into a terrorist operation of this size, I am concerned that the danger is still present...

Drat, an opportunity missed! Next time you see Ms. Outraged at card club, don't pull your punches. Reconfigure her pearlies.
