EVERETT, Wash. -- A man is being kept in isolation and tested for possible SARS disease at Providence Everett Medical Center in Everett.

Do you think the SARS outbreak in China is larger than is being reported?

Well, at any rate, start eating Kimchee (fermented cabbage marinated in hot pepper paste). The Koreans say it keeps SARS at bay for them (they are in the middle of Asia, too, but largely untouched)....well, they just may have something. Too garlicky for many, but I'd rather be garlicked up than on my back in an isolation ward with SARS.

"Well, at any rate, start eating Kimchee (fermented cabbage marinated in hot pepper paste). " I prefer bulgogi and they claim it works too.

I had bulgogi once outside of Osan. I'm certain it was made from dog.

A group that just came back from China to the Puget Sound brought measles with them as well. I think they were coming back from an adoption trip.

If it were 'bulgogi', it was not dog. If you had wanted dog, they would have given you 'poshintang'.

I think it is a larger outbreak than reported...they have already set quite a precedence for lowering their numbers. The timing of this outbreak is curious too.
Interesting that it isn't mentioned where in China this patient was.
To: Mother Abigail
This is characteristically the time of year that severe respiratory diseases decrease in frequency. I suspect that China reached the zenith of the outbreak a few months ago which went unreported and we are seeing the cases toward the end of the outbreak. With the summer months coming on it would be highly unusual to see an increase in any respiratory disease.
