A Massacre in Kosovo A member of the United Nations police force murders his American colleagues.
Weekly Standard ^ | 4/29/04 | Stephen Schwartz

Posted on 04/30/2004 2:46:55 AM PDT by Elkiejg

ON APRIL 17, as reported in THE WEEKLY STANDARD, two American women and an American man were slain in Kosovo, and eleven people were injured when they came under armed attack by a Palestinian from Jordan. The killer was a member of the same body in which they served: the United Nations police force in the territory.

The male American, who died of his wounds, was Gary Weston, of Vienna, Illinois. The Palestinian, Sergeant Major Ahmed Mustafa Ibrahim Ali, was killed when members of the contingent in which the Americans were traveling returned fire.

In the days since the first reports of the crime were received, more details have emerged, which make what was already a scandal for the United Nations in Kosovo even more alarming. First and most disturbing is that the dead assailant, Ali, is being investigated for connections with Hamas, the Palestinian terror organization. Second is that the same Ali had visited the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, home of the Wahhabi Islamic sect that produced al Qaeda, only a month before he was sent to Kosovo in March.

More thorough descriptions of the incident are horrendous. The group of Americans, along with some Turkish personnel, were leaving a prison in the northern Kosovo town of Mitrovica when the attack began. It was their first day on the job. According to the Associated Press, they were "trapped between a locked gate and Ali's assault rifle."

The Palestinian carried an M-16, from which he apparently discharged 400 rounds, leading NATO investigators to examine whether his four colleagues in a Jordanian detachment assigned to guard the prison had helped him by feeding his weapon as he fired. All four were detained after the bloody events, but three have now been released, while one of them, whose name has not been disclosed, remains under arrest as a possible accomplice, and his immunity from prosecution has been revoked.

The Americans shot back with pistols. An Austrian guard heard the noise and ran to the scene, but was wounded in the legs by the Palestinian.

The Associated Press account states chillingly, "When he had shot all those he could see, Ali paced around the vans [in which the Americans had been riding], searching for more victims."

The carnage continued until Ali's weapon jammed. The surviving Americans then stormed the Jordanians' guard shack, where they found his four comrades hiding. The Americans grabbed their weapons from them and killed the assailant, firing 16 bullets into his body.

Because Kosovo media operates under heavy U.N. censorship, the whole truth about this atrocity may not be known for some time. But terrorism expert Dan Pipes warned this week, "If the Hamas connection does materialize, it could mean that the organization has in fact begun in earnest its war with the United States."

Stephen Schwartz, a frequent contributor, worked in Kosovo for most of 2000.

The UN is situated on some mighty attractive real estate. Call Donald Trump! Get rid of them. They should have the UN building somewhere over in, say, Africa - where there is lots of room and land is cheap. Water is something else, but land is cheap. But then, it is only the UN, so who cares if they have water. We could just send some rabid democrat as the UN ambassador and then quietly forget all about them. Yes, this is throwing the baby out with the bath water - and the soap and the cloth and the bathtub and the baby pictures and the baby's favorite toy.

Wow--the Weekly Standard published this? What gall, what affrontery...this outlet beat the drums for our wretched involvement in the Balkans in the first place. Without the neocons, it is doubtful that Biden, Albright and McVain could have tipped the scales to push Clinton (it's all very well to Blame the Jerk, but do you honestly think he'd go eagerly to *any* fight?) into the arms of the Euros who wanted the war...

Hey, where's Hegemony Cricket in all this? (aka, Bill Kristol)--

I just can't figure out what the author of this piece, Stephen Schwartz, a muslim convert, is up to.

I've read in the past that he is only opposed to Wahabbism. But gives the rest of them a pass. Maybe he'll wake up someday.

No, not the Onion. There's been some criticism of him from what I can tell.

I don't know what the story is with him. It's a puzzle to me.

The Saudi-9/11 Connection

"Surprisingly, Schwartz is admittedly an Islamaphile. He does not see Islam as the menace some modern-day Jews and Christian fundamentalists have claimed."

Another interesting link:

"So is Schwartz just another self-hater in the tradition of Otto Weininger, or is he a genuine convert to the "religion of peace and tolerance"? Either way, people who employ or publish him owe us an explanation for his and their failure to acknowledge this significant fact: that he is a Muslim."

WHY I EMBRACED ISLAM -- Finding solace in the Garden of Peace by Suleyman Ahmad

"Since accepting Islam, I have proceeded carefully in informing my friends, neighbours, co-workers, and others. I do not want to provoke conflict or controversy, and I do not want this experience to be seen as something superficial or faddish. It isn’t about me, it’s about Allah. I want to proceed in a way that will do the most for the welfare of the Ummah and for better relations between all believers in la ilaha illallah."

This was premeditated murder, pure and simple.

Ambush. Planned. Hamas. Palestinian. Muslim terrorist. UN cover. Take your pick. The answer is likely "all of the above".

WHY I EMBRACED ISLAM

Finding solace in the Garden of Peace by Suleyman Ahmad

I am an American journalist and author. In 1997, aged 49, after more than 30 years of research study, and life experience, I came into Islam. This decision reflected many issues in my life.

I grew up in an environment that would be extremely strange for most Americans. My father was Jewish; my mother was the daughter of a famous Protestant fundamental minister. My father was a religious student, or Yeshiva-bocher, as a youth. My mother was raised in an atmosphere of intensive Bible reading, and she knew the Old and New Testaments very well. (Obviously, she DIDN'T know Jesus!)

In Sarajevo, I did not find myself to be a tourist. I had direct encounters with Muslim believers and scholars

Both my parents faith was tested by the events of the 1930s. My mother abandoned Christianity in protest against the Nazi attacks on the Jews, who she had been raised to view as the ‘original People of God.’ Later, she converted to Judaism.

Well, at LEAST he doesn't have to deal with that pesky JESUS fellow!!!!

May all your works get into Allahs presence.....................

LOL! And little "Suleyman" goes and signs on with the folks who've gleefully taken up the modern slaughter of Jews, the Islamonazies!
