Rep. Jim McDermott, Washington Democrat, yesterday did not say the words "under God" as he led the House in its daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Rep. Pete Sessions, Texas Republican, accused Mr. McDermott of "embarrassing the House" and proving that "he and those like him stand more for the liberal left than they do for our friends and neighbors."

I suppose he can leave God out. God will probably end up leaving him out, after all.

(He's an extreme embarrassment to those of us who live in Washington.)

It is said that God reciprocates as we want to relate to Him. If we want to love Him, He'll take a thousand steps to us. If want to ignore Him, we'll never be able to see Him.

It's so sick that people such as McDermitt think that the Constitution orders everyone to either be an atheist, or to cater to atheists.

McDermott is a strange duck. He seems dead set on being charged with either treason or .... who knows? If anyone says that you shouldn't question his patriotism, ask "What patriotism? I've never seen any evidence that he possesses any."

Ironically, since heaven is defined by where God and Christ are, it is interesting that if you ask people who hate God (and Christ) whether or not they will go to heaven, the answer is usually 'yes.' Yet, they despise God and Christ here on earth.

Go figure!

Aren't all the House members up for re-election this year ..?? If so .. what are the chances of McDermott getting the boot, or is her in a protected district ..??

No. If you do not believe in the words "under God", just don't say the phrase. I guess Mr. McD does not believe in any God. So be it.

Yeah, it's pretty funny there's so much controversy over a pledge written by a socialist and which didn't have "under God" in it for 50 years, till Congress tacked it on.

And the ironic thing is that the generation that grew up without saying "Under God" is the generation that defeated the Germans and Japanese, and the first generation to grow up saying "Under God" gave us Woodstock, the Manson Family, The Weather Underground, Communes, the Chicago Riots, the Black Panthers, etc.

Why didn't he just refuse to lead?
If the Godless man wants to omit the only one who loves him no matter what, then it is his soul that is lost. But this jerk lead the whole room!

IMHO He just wanted the nation to talk about him.

When one has been selected to LEAD THE PLEDGE, one should correctly recite the pledge.

The fact that some are challenging the pledge, does not permit this silly congress critter to make as even bigger a$$ of himself...

If he had any conflict of conscious to recite the entire pledge correctly - he should have shown some grace and declined to LEAD THE PLEDGE....

But of course, this clymer simply had to prove once again that he truly is a clymer....

I have come to deeply despise these "liberal" self defined elitists ---- deeply despise, and unwilling to tolerate their foolishness for much longer...

So how old is McDermott?

It's possible he's old enough that he grew up saying it every day without the "Under God" and had a brain fart.

I think he won with something over 80% of the vote last time. Fruits and nuts over there. Seriously.
