Turkey Again Accuses Pastor of "Opening An Illegal Church

A criminal court in southeast Turkey has for the second time pressed charges against Pastor Ahmet Guvener of the Diyarbakir Evangelical Church, this time accusing him of “opening an illegal church.”

Guvener will stand trial for alleged violation of Turkish penal code 261/1.

State prosecutor Mehmet Isbitiren charged Guvener in February with “using a building registered as a home to open a Protestant church and conducting religious worship together with music for the people attending.”

The pastor could be jailed for up to two years if convicted.

The Diyarbakir Evangelical Church has functioned openly in the city’s traditionally Christian neighborhood of Lalebey since April 6 of last year, gathering from 50 to 60 worshippers each Sunday.

“Of course, the real purpose of this court case is to shut down our church,” Guvener told Compass, stating that the case will set a precedent for all other “existing and newly opened” Protestant churches in Turkey.

His first hearing before the Diyarbakir Criminal Court is set for May 12.

I have a long-time minister friend who was a missionary to Turkey for a short time (1 or 2 years). There is still a warrant out for his arrest in Turkey should he ever return. Americans should avoid that place at all cost. They hate us more than is made known. Remember the movie "Midnight Express"?

This makes me wonder if Islam is extremely vulnerable to the messages of Christianity. (Love vs. hatred).

Christ's teachings are too compelling. They must keep their followers from hearing it. That is why they kill the messenger or anyone who converts.

Wow you take all the movies so serious? I bet you swallowed thousands of red pills to wake up after watching "The Matrix"...

Christianity vs Islam..God vs Allah..Hmm angel's names and purposes in both are even same how they are against each other?

God and Allah are the same thing no need to corrupt it like they are two different things..Thats what the extremists want exactly..A religious war..Who will win? Noone total nonsense
