"None of the five couples are same-sex."
None that we know of yet --- on those reality shows they like those unexpected twist endings.

"It seems like it is only days until we see competitive voluntary dismemberment."
And it'll only be a few days after that until we see human sacrifice.

I am sickened by this idea considering the thousands of infants waiting to be adopted.

"See, Jim Carrey thought that movie was satire. I wonder if he ever thought it would happen in real life?"
Our society is rapidly becoming one in which satire will be impossible.

"Gee, why not just put the kid on the auction block?"
Give it time. They'll do it.

The ad is plugging a story helmed by Barbara Walters. This is the gist of it: Five couples are vying to adopt a single baby. Of course, only one will be able to, and four others will be heartbroken. Who will the mother choose? Words fail me

ABC is a part of Disney corp. They have been sliding into the cess pool for years. Nothing they would do surprises me."

allow me :) Barbara Walters is a dried old prune desperate for ratings. I don't want to be harsh on these parents but I find it a bit unnerving they'd subject themselves to this.

"Fear Factor is coming pretty close."
Yep, so somebody will have to top them by actually doing it. All in the name of competing for ratings, and "giving the public what it wants".

In addition, these extreme makeover / "swan" shows are stunningly exploitative. It's only a matter of time until they have a screwed up plastic surgery or a suicide. The Jenny Jones show ring a bell ??

What surprises me is that they didn't do a story in which one or more of the couples were Gay parents. :/
