Eight of the ten surveyed claimed that people have become more sceptic towards immigrants due to the Mullah Krekar case. The negative attitude is evident nation wide.

The national survey was conducted by telephone interviews in the end of March by Opinion AS on behalf of Nordiske TV Dager in connection with this year’s media festival opening in Bergen in May.
According to a press release sent out by the media festival, the answers are so overwhelmingly negative that there is no longer any doubt that people in Norway believe the Krekar case has created fear of immigrants and increased negative attitudes towards immigration.
The people who to the largest degree believe this are people in the age group 45 to 59, who live in the southern part of Norway and vote for the Conservative party. Of these people nine of ten believe the negative attitudes towards immigration have increased.
Brynjar Meling, Mullah Krekar’s lawyer, said in a comment to the survey that he was not surprised by the result.
«Of course, I wish it was different, but we can probably not expect any another result of a survey like that with the campaign both politicians and media have run against my client,» Meling said.
