Police find body of missing woman

Suspect is custody

Police found the body of 29-year-old Tamara Dunstan and arrested one man in connection with her death, Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength announced at a Sunday press conference. Ronald Francis Burke, 25, of the 3000 block of Wrightsboro Road, was charged with murder and kidnapping and is being held at the Richmond County Jail.

The sheriff said interviews with Mr. Burke on Friday led police to a wooded area in Edgefield County where Ms. Dunstan's body was found.

Sheriff Strength would not take questions after the press conference.

The victim was abducted on Thursday when she went to her mother's home on Kipling Drive to drop off a belated birthday present. Authorities said she arrived as a burglary was in progress and was kidnapped by the burglar.

This is our doctor's daughter.

The man drilled through the floor under the house to get in to steal valuable artwork. He bypassed the security system and knew when no one would be home.

The daughter, who was a nurse, married and 3 months pregnant, stopped by her mother's home to drop off a birthday gift for her mom.

Prayers for her family and for Tamara. What a terrible way to die. A pregnant mother as well. Awful! Brings tears to my eyes.

"The sheriff said interviews with Mr. Burke on Friday led police to a wooded area in Edgefield County where Ms. Dunstan's body was found."

Edgefield County is in SC.

Strange phrasing in the article. I have no doubt they will consult with the U.S. Attorney - but not the U.S. Attorney General. Also - most federal legislation has an implementation or effective date 180 days after passage. Perhaps that's the case here.

Laci and Conner Law.
He's going to be tried under the new Fetus Protection Act and charged with double homocide.

She was three months pregnant.

The perps younger brother goes to school with my daughter, he told some their friends his brother didn't mean to kill Tamara Dunstan.

But, you know the story, everyone in jail is innocent.

We still don't know if she was killed in GA or SC yet. Both states will put a criminal to death.

Just got back in town from vacation and I read this story.

Though I haven't lived there in years, I grew up in Augusta and know most of the people in this story, including District Attorney Craig, who is a good guy. What a sad sad story. What's worse, there are two relatives of Tamara's who are both gravely ill.

What a sad time for this family. Pray for them.
