Sheriff says Sjodin's body found

CROOKSTON - The body of Dru Sjodin, the UND student who disappeared last November, has been found, authorities said Saturday.

Polk County Sheriff Mark LeTexier sobbed as he told volunteers, "Dru is home." He later confirmed that authorities had found Sjodin's body.

Volunteers had joined the search for the 22-year-old student on Saturday. A group at Crookston High School broke into applause after his announcement.

Sjodin's father, Allan, and her boyfriend were in a trailer at the high school serving as a makeshift command post for authorities organizing the search.

Sjodin, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., disappeared Nov. 22 from a Grand Forks mall. She was last heard from while talking on a cell phone to her boyfriend.

Convicted sex offender Alfonso Rodriguez Jr., 51, of Crookston, has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping her. He was arrested in December and is jailed in Grand Forks on $5 million bail.

Those words jumped out at me, too. The same "progressives" who think it is too dangerous for a potential victim to own a gun or, in some jurisdictions, a can of mace, are all eager to get dangerous criminals back on the streets -- it seems like they favor the most violent and least likely to be "reformed," while they have endless paranoia about the average citizen.

I find it more than a little interesting, given her swedish heritage, that the offender will most likely be let off easy. Sweden is very anti- gun,privacy,personal/civil rights,death penalty,America... They are very PRO- leftist dogma, minimum sentencing, communisim, nazi.

I have observed the reaction in Sweden (to the news of her disappearance/recovery of body) and the general opinion here is that the offender "had to be a man", "everything bad happens in the USA", and "the offender will probably be executed as Americans are barbaric that way..". I find it very distasteful, someone died. My heart goes out to her family.
