Big comet plunging toward our Sun
Spaceweather.com ^ | 4-16-04 | Orlando

Comet Bradfield is plunging toward the sun; at closest approach on April 17th it will be well inside the orbit of Mercury. Sun-approaching comets sometimes break-apart. Will Comet Bradfield survive? No one knows.

Here's the only image being released by U.S. Navy, and it's darken alot, but most of Comet can be seem. It looks
like nucleus is spliting apart, and it is more closer to the sun than the NASA simulation provided and tail is still pointing downward and super long. This comet is within 0.17 AU from the Sun, and over 78+ Million miles from Earth, and looking at the size of it, look likes Jupiter size ???

**Alot of question marks ???*

Here's latest image(17 Apr 04-2058hrs,UT) can somebody post pictue image from navy site for us, please thank you....

Thank You for the images.

Update: Comet? is now at 2 O'Clock from the Sun (within 0.17AU,@ 15 million miles) Mercury is 0.39 AU ,@ 33-35 Million miles, so we know it's inside Mercury/Sun orbit, but
the question is?

Is this comet in front of the Sun, or behind the Sun ???
It's not beside the sun, because the long comet tail would of moved away from the Sun.

The little circle on soho images represents the size of our Sun, and if we were to compare the nucleus size and circle
,they almost both fix prefect.

Here's the latest from Lasco 3:

Q- If it's behind the Sun ? Is it heading this way (Northward track ??)

Comparing sizes and distances using other planets:

In this image from soho in 2000, it shows 4 planets(Mercury,Venus,Jupiter, and Saturn)

Mercury and Venus are orbiting in front of the Sun closer to the Earth , as I remember Mercury is @ 33 million from Sol, Venus is @ 59-60 ? Million, Earth is 92 million.

We know this Comet is well within 0.17AU (15 Million), so using this data & above images. I think we might get a better idea in real size of comet ?

I hope this helps ?

The nucleus of the comet is actually getting smaller by the minute, and continues to get smaller as the gas and dust of the comet evaporate or sublimate from the body. The rays of Sol impacting the comet produce the energy to release the gas and dust, so as the comet gets closer to Sol, the energy absorbed increases, thus increasing the rate of gas a dust emission. This cloud of dust and gas is called the coma.

We cannot see the nucleus behind the coma, so what you see getting bigger is the cloud, or coma, of the comet as the rate of evaporation and sublimation are increasing.

Comets technically have two tails, an ion tail and a dust tail. The ion tail is sometimes to faint to see.

We have 3 comets coming inward, here check-out chart(takes alittle time to play into motion), but it's VERY interesting to view, and path of travel of all three BIG
comets, the date that is of concern is May 17th,after you view motion you will know why ?
