It's much more likely to be diagnosed and treated among gays than needle sharers.
Actually there's some decent evidence the whole US outbreak may have begun among IV drug needle sharers before it broke out in the gay community.
In terms of individual acts, you're clearly more likely to get it from one shared needle injection with someone with HIV than one act of any form of sex with someone with HIV....

I gotta laugh at these doomsayers - porn actors have sex with each other all the time - yet no explosion of HIV.No "explosion of HIV" among heterosexuals, despite the fact that we were warned and hectored about that for years...

But actors who live "check to check" Why did I read that as "cheek to cheek"?

Yep, John gave the answer that I'd already gotten a long time ago -- that IV needle sharers are less likely to seek diagnosis and treatment.

If I remember correctly, I read something once that said that AIDS runs rampant in Brazil. Going down there to do p0rn is like playing Russian Roulette with five of the six chambers loaded. John Holmes went to Italy to make porn films after he caught AIDS and the American companies wouldn't employ him anymore. He did not notify those in Europe of his condition.

The basic problem is that it's next to impossible for a man to get AIDS from having unprotected vaginal sex from a woman, so no epidemic could ever get going...it's possible, and it has happened, but it's incredibly rare. One could easily do so 50-100 times and never get AIDS. And even the tiny fraction of cases where it's happened, there's a good possibility the male is simply lying about either not doing IV drugs or having gay anal sex.
The overwhelming majority of the "non-typical" cases are of course hemophiliacs or women who had sex with HIV-positive men (it's much easier for a woman to get AIDS through vaginal sex with a man than vice-versa).
Of course "Magic Johnson" will get brought up every time.
But we have no idea how he got it, and, of course, the rumors (unverifiable) fly. The people who were infatuated with heterosexual AIDS are pretty much in denial that he could have got it other than through hetero sex. And it wasn't just the Left and Gay activists who liked the hetero epidemic idea; a lot of social conservatives liked it to in order to scare people to have monogamous sex with their wives only.

So much for the patients' privacy. I can understand the requirement for testing and notification to partners and producers .. but releasing the medical information to the general public is allowed? Next thing you know, photos of his genitals will be available. The poor guy must be humiliated.

It's more likely for a woman to get HIV/AIDS from unprotected sex with an infected man than the reverse.
As for Magic Johnson, the rumors about his sexual activities/ interests had been going around for *years* -- long before he announced that he caught the virus.

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - A large portion of the adult industry has become vocal about demanding a moratorium of all adult production, ranging from at least a few weeks up to the 60-day term proposed by AVN. We thought it would be nice to let companies explain why they have done so. This list will be updated as needed.
ClubJenna's Jenna Jameson declared that her company would halt production until everything was declared clear. ClubJenna has pushed its productions until the 60 day window has elapsed and we can be assured that the outbreak is contained," Jameson said. "We strongly urge the rest of the industry to follow. This is our industry and our livelihood
.please help to ensure its safety.
Private USA has decided to halt production for 60 days. At this time Private has decided to halt productions, as our chief concern is the health and safety of our talent. Our best wishes, hopes and prayers are with those who might be affected by the current climate, said Private USA general Manager Ric Williams.
Wildlife Productions has agreed to halt production indefinitely, citing their concern for the safety of their talent. We strongly support AVNs suggestion that production companies put their productions on hold until the air is cleared about this potential epidemic that threatens our most valuable assets, the performers, said Romy and Bobby Rinaldi, announcing they were halting production until whenever necessary.
Astrux Entertainment has decided to halt production on all upcoming shoots in order for the entire industry to be cleared of the current outbreak. "In this difficult time we want to send
our thoughts and prayers to everybody effected by this," said Astrux Entertainment.
Passion Pictures has gone on a moratorium until June 8, the current recommend date. I would be mortified if anyone ever got sick in connection with one of my projects. I have to sleep at night and my conscience would not allow me to sleep. I would never earn my living at the expense of some other human beings health & safety, said David Brett, CEO of Passion Pictures.
Elegant Angel has decided shut production until June, July, ...whenever.
Jill Kelly Productions was the first to announce a 60-day halt to production. Jill Kelly, namesake and president of JKP, had a few choice words for those who refused to stop production, suggesting that such people were, idiots with no regard to their talent or crew.
Vivid Video, while already a condom-only company, has decided to cease production for the time being. "As of now Vivid has decided to halt production on its adult films. This may change based on information we obtain from AIM Health Care," Ellie Reeve, Vivid's spokesperson, said.
Cherry Boxxx Pictures, the Red Light District, and VCA have agreed to halt production until at least the second-generation list from the James line of the virus is announced, which is expected to take a few weeks.

John Holmes did make some "gay" films late in his American career. Some of his friends say that he "didn't like it" and did it to feed his cocaine addiction.

A little note to the porn industry:
If the man was infected in Brazil and the industry is only testing the porn stars in the USA, what good will that do?
Who is testing the Brazilian women that starred in the movie with the guy?
If no body tests the Brazilian porn stars my suggestion is not to film anymore movies there. Yuck. HIV must be rampant in Brazil.

I guess the only event that would be more flabbergasting would be an act of God upon the gay havens of Palm Springs and San Francisco, both of which happen to associated with the San Andreas fault,....Hmmmmm.

The postponement of eight films "won't do much damage" and can be quickly remedied by doubling the six-day-per-month shooting schedule, Kelly said. Six days a month? What a bunch of slackers. How much pre and post production do these movies need?
To: cyborg
Thankfully, the Ninja was unheard of back in my running days down there.
I bet the "actor" in question here catches as well as pitches...just a hunch.
