Actually Wonderland is pretty much just about the Wonderland drug related murders which John Holmes had a hand in.

The DVD has a documentary about his life which was theatrically released before the movie was made. The documentary is more damning than the biopic and is the only place on the 2 DVD set that his homosexual activities are discussed. Heck the movie even soft-sells his involvement in the case making it unclear if he even went inside the apartment.

Boogie Nights tried to offer a fictionalized account of John Holmes life but in general was a cheesy film.

Agreed. I thought there was an attempt to make him sympathetic-NOT. I enjoyed the 80's history and when evil people take their evil out on each other. I liked the film on DVD but only saw the movie part.

The movie sought to glamorize a real seedy existence. The classic rock soundtrack clicked in anytime someone walked in a room.

I was also disgusted by the "movie hype" interview with actor who played the man resident/dealer at Wonderland. He claimed that these guys had it all, the best dope, the best parties, etc. etc. In one word: BS. They weren't stars. They weren't celebrities. Is there any doubt that the glitterati in La La Land have MORE to offer a hedonist?

These guys were small fish to ripped off a sleazy dope dealer who had city officials in his back pocket. He never has done SERIOUS time for his own crimes. Heck, Charles Manson is in prison (and had the death penalty) for sending out a group of people to kill a group in their residence.

Check this out, I believe it to be factual. The Mitchell Brothers (their real names?)

At some point, they hired Terry Zwigoff and Robert Crumb to assemble a documentary of Hunter S. Thompson. The brothers had already shot a bunch of footage of Thompson lecturing at a university. Unfortunately, the Mitchells had neglected to record any audio of the speech, having been accustomed to adding all the sound for their movies in postproduction. Then the brothers hired Zwigoff and Crumb to write a porn screenplay, which was abandoned just as quickly.

The brothers produced a sequel to Behind the Green Door in 1986, entitled Behind the Green Door: the Sequel. Its primary gimmick revolved around the promotion of safe sex practices: condoms and dentals dams figured as prominently in the film as its star, newcomer Missy Manners. I didn't know that. I have seen on ebay a drink napkin that R. Crumb drew for a nightclub the Mitchell Brothers owned (this was a printed napkin, not a napkin that Crumb drew on as he compulsively will do).

Maybe drugs or maybe just no concept of money. Here in Houston, topless dancers would blow their paycheck on bar tabs, seeing men strip at a club, or supporting a loser boyfriend who needed rent money/guitar out of pawn/bailbonds/etc.

Reportedly at her peak (still underage) "Traci Lords" owned 8 cars.
