FALLUJAH, Iraq, April 11 -- When the American troops entered the abandoned factory shed Sunday, they found a hastily abandoned campsite full of jumbled clothing and bedrolls, scattered sneakers and gym bags, broken eggs and dirty cooking pots.

But there were other, less innocent objects half-hidden in the gloom. Sacks full of chemical-coated rocks. Leather belts stuffed with explosive putty, and one smeared with dried blood. Boxes of batteries with wires taped to them. A recipe for making bombs.

I guess this is what Ted Kennedy meant.

What happened to the cell members? Are they dead or is that why the Marines left a few behind?

Now why would you keep mortar shells in a freezer???

Cause in Iraq, they don't have Good Humor men. They have Bad Humor men.

Cause the Marines would never think of looking in a freezer for mortar rounds?

Cause if you don't, they'll melt.

Cause the Good Humor man is in a Bad Humor mood.

Thanks for the pings. Over the last day or so I've been mostly out, and I end up spending most of my "freeping" time catching up with stuff, and little time spent responding. Keep the pings coming. I really appreciate them.

The intel guys must be going nuts with all the new input that must be coming their way. I hope we quickly see some of the fruits of their labors.

My tin foil hat mentality had me thinking of the need for a freezer for a biological agent.

Check out this link:
http://cryptome.org/smallpox-wmd.htm

specifically the paragraph that starts with this quote:

"At the present time, smallpox lives officially in only two repositories on the planet. One repository is in the United States, in a freezer at the headquarters of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in Atlanta -- the C.D.C."

Weapons found in Basra likely chemical
Mortars buried 10 years, army says

Initial tests indicate blister gas present

BAGHDAD—Danish troops have found dozens of mortar rounds buried in Iraq which chemical weapons tests show could contain blister gas, the Danish army said yesterday.

The initial tests, which have yet to be confirmed, were taken after Danish troops found 36 120-mm mortar rounds on Friday hidden in southern Iraq. The Danish army said the rounds had been buried for at least 10 years.

"All the instruments showed indications of the same type of chemical compound, namely blister gas," the Danish Army operational command said on its Web site. "However, this will not be confirmed until the final tests are available," it said in a statement after the initial examination of liquid leaking from the weapons.

Results of final tests were likely to be ready in about two days.

Blister gas, an illegal weapon that ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein said he had destroyed, was extensively used against the Iranians during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

Mustard gas, one of the best known of the blister agents, can remain toxic in the soil for decades. Although it can kill if it enters the lungs, blister gas is used mainly to weaken infantry by making the skin break out in excruciatingly painful blisters.

Four different types of instrument were used on three of the mortar rounds, the army said in its statement, adding that 100 more rounds could be buried at the site north of Basra. Icelandic bomb specialists working with the Danish soldiers said the rounds had been found concealed in road construction, Iceland's Foreign Ministry said. It said a mobile U.S. chemical research laboratory has been sent to help.
