California voters won't blame Kerry for high gas prices. They didn't blame him for high electricity prices earlier. Besides, Bush opposes lowering gas taxes, so what exactly is the point of the ad that people concerned about gas taxes are supposed to take away from this?

It was pathetic. We had people putting up generic, non-logo Bush-Cheney signs like he was running for student council or something.

Granted, I don't think President Bush has much chance of winning in CA and I doubt the campaign really thinks so either... But I don't think you'll find that the President will write it off immediately and never consider it like his father did in 1992. President Bush won CA in 1988 by 3% and lost it in 1992 by 14%... quite a turn around for the state and it may be lost for sometime to come.

This campaign will hinge on a few states and I doubt that CA is one of them.... but if Kerry has to guard his 'six' then it's not a back use of funds, imo..... of course yours may vary.

Correct about running in Texas.... I've seen it on cable channels, don't remember which ones. It's not a Texas buy but rather a national spot rather than local or statewide for the channel.

You seriously believe that equation?

Kerry isn't going to fall for it just like Gore didn't.

If Cali internals ever show mid to low single digits, he won't have a choice...And I think Bush would like to help Jones too...

Today's Chronicle says that currently Bush has 38% approval rating and 50% disapproval, versus 49% approval and 40% disapproval at the beginning of the year. It would be silly to think that Bush has a lock on California, governator or not.

Glad you know what Kerry will do... but you don't help build a party up by walking away from it... And President Bush is not one to quit and run.... Kerry doesn't have a lot of cash at this stage and will will be into his $75 million of feds funds a full month before the limit hits the President.... So if the race is close or seems close Kerry may have to spend funds....

One current poll has the race some 3 points apart ...... Now that may well increase over time but if it stays that way for some period then Kerry has to at least be concerned.

If Kerry's losing California, it's over anyway-- and these ads won't have anything to do with Bush's victory there.

Wouldn't a landslide be great....... How you know they wouldn't help in some way.... Maybe even help the party gain a seat or two in the State Legislature or maybe local government.... If President Bush wins CA then what he spends in some other much smaller state isn't of concern would you think?
