I thought that one of the selling points of NAFTA was that it would improve the conditions in Mexico and therefore reduce illegal immigration?

The cruel reality is that the Bush and Fox administrations are indeed partners: They seek the amalgamation of our nations as part of a long-term design to create a hemisphere-wide superstate modeled on the European Union.* This is why the same Bush administration that was willing to wage a “pre-emptive” war against an entirely hypothetical threat from distant Iraq is permitting — and even encouraging — Mexico to continue its campaign of demographic warfare and cultural subversion against us.

NAFTA was step one. Any talk of Mexican economic improvement was simply a smokescreen. Step two is the FTAA.

Seems to me that if we had developed a national self-destruct plan, this would be one of the top items on it!

I would call the "amalgamation of our nations as part of a long-term design to create a hemisphere-wide superstate modeled on the European Union" the destruction of the USA, or at least of its national sovereignty. The elites in both parties are willing to see the US reduced to a Third World country so long as they can then rule it like the dictators of the banana republics can rule their countries . No more pretense that nonelites have rights, or that the constitution is in effect.
