What Did Max Kellerman Say on Hannity about Rush? (Vanity Request for Information)
Hannity & Colmes/FNC - Rush Limbaugh Show
Posted on 03/30/2004 10:35:57 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest
Rush has been touting for an hour-and-a-half some comments that former ESPN host Max Kellerman made on Hannity yesterday (not sure if it was on Sean's radio or TV show).
Apparently it has to do with what was being said behind the scenes regarding Rush's comments about Donovan McNabb, and the aftermath.
I can't listen any more today to Rush, and would be very grateful if someone would post what Rush has to say about it, or what Kellerman himself said during his appearance with Sean Hannity.
Many thanks!

I don't know if he was on Sean's radio show, too, but Max was on Fox's Hannity & Colmes last night. They were discussing Spike Lee's recent comments that Larry Bird, while one of the best players in the history of league, was over-rated by the "white" media. Lee basically said the exact thing about Bird that Rush said about Donovan McNabb on ESPN last fall. Of course, the difference is that Rush was a conservative white talking about a black athlete, while Spike is a liberal black talking about a white athlete. It's politically incorrect to do the former and Rush was crucified. It's perfectly acceptable to do the latter, and nobody has said "boo" about Lee's comments, save commentators like Hannity and Rush.
I don't recall Max saying much else about Rush. He did agree with Sean that it was a double standard. Unfortunately, I can't get Rush right now, but I'd like to hear what he has to say about Spike's comments on Bird and what Max had to say last night. Incidentally, Max worked for ESPN until just recently, and now is with Fox Sports.

I heard a part of the conversation and he said that ESPN told the sports people that could not talk about Rush unless it was to say something against him.....

Thanks very much for the info!
By the way, gldngun, regarding getting Rush, have you tried one of the web sites that lets people listen live? I've found this one that is very good - quick connection, good audio quality:

Kellerman agreed with Hannity and Colmes that there was serious double standard at ESPN regarding Limbaugh and Spike Lee. Kellerman said that Rush couldn't say what he said about McNabb because he is not "down with the movement" (paraphrasing). He did agree that Rush was onto something however.
He also said that ESPN would only allow on-air personalities to address the Rush situation if they agreed with ESPN management.
Keep in mind that Kellerman just left ESPN because of a contract dispute and they basically gave his show to someone else.

He also said that ESPN would only allow on-air personalities to address the Rush situation if they agreed with ESPN management. I'll bet Keith Olbermann (MSNBC-BS) called his old bosses at ESPN and volunteered. ;-)

FWIW, I think he also said the Spike Lee comment happened 10 or 15 years ago.

FWIW, I think he also said the Spike Lee comment happened 10 or 15 years ago. I think you are mistaken. When Max was referring to "it" being so many years old, I believe he was talking about the "white media in love with Bird" theory. It was first made public by Isaiah Thomas after a playoff game between his Pistons and Bird's Celtics. Thomas said if Bird were black "he would just be another player". Spike's comments I believe are very current (past week or so) but the issue he was bringing up is years old.

If that's the case, I stand corrected.
