I can understand being lost, but 18 hours?! Wouldn't they have stopped after 2-3 or so?

Las Vegas might have been a hint.

That's why I wondered about exhaust fumes. They were very confused but ok by the time they got to the hospital and able to drive home the next day.

There was a 78-year-old mother in the car and they didn't have to make some potty stops?

Back in college, a large group of us took a canoe trip to south central Missouri.

One car in our group was over 10 hours late getting back to Illinois.

Turns out the driver, a Chicago native, took a wrong turn on I-44 heading west instead of east. He thought he was on the right road because he kept seeing mileage signs to 'Springfield' thinking they meant 'Springfield, Illinois'. I don't think he even knew there was a Springfield, Missouri.

Everyone else in the car was asleep.

The Chicagoan drove for 5 hours, INTO THE SETTING SUN.

He finally realized he had made a mistake when he saw the signs welcoming him to Oklahoma!!!! Needless to say, the other guys were really really pissed when he woke them up to give them the bad news.
