9/11 Panel Likely To Conclude 9/11 Attacks Could Have Been Prevented
The Drudge Report ^ | 03 29 04 | Newsweek

NEWSWEEK reporting in fresh editions; The 9/11 commission is likely to conclude the attacks could have been prevented by the simple act of sharing information.... Had that warning made it to Clarke's counterterror shop, airlines might have begun bolting cockpit doors. But the commission doesn't want to make government bureaucrats even more risk-averse by hounding them.

What utter nonsesne. Ultimate monday morning arm chair athelete quarterbacking.

After decades of training to let people threatening violence have what they want so no one gets hurt, do they really think the pilots are going to let people's throats get slit?

Grandstanding comments like this tripe ignores the most important psychological aspect. It's easy to say now, "bolt the doors" after 911 has happened. But before hand the same buffoons saying this would have been the one screaming that the pilots should not have let stwardess' throats get slit if an incident happened and the pilots stayed in their bolted cockpit.

Politicizing 911 in this crass manner is a serious low point for us.

The attacks of 9/11 could have been prevented if Clinton/Gore/Clarke did their jobs.

Personal panel (of friends) likely to conclude that my horrible marriage and divorce could have been prevented........ (if only I'd seen the danger signs and hadn't married the b!tch).

"The attacks of 9/11 could have been prevented if Clinton/Gore/Clarke did their jobs."

The hijackers entered the country when Clintigula was in office, for starters!

A new administration, 8 mos into the first term, is not the group that set the climate that made 9/11 possible.

It defies reason to suggest such a thing.

The democrats are going for the throat. If the Republicans don't launch a counter-offensive shortly, then it will become evident that they have no ammunition to fire.

They've been on the defensive for weeks now.

With an all democrat panel, what other conclusion would they draw?

Duh, it's called the Patriot Act, and is one of the rasons why there have been no successful attacks on US soil since 9/11.

I should have been more cautious while posting this link. I will certainly do so in the future.

Are these the same people not wanting to arm pilots? Are these the same people who do nothing when our embassies and ships are bombed? Are these the same people who turned down offers to get OBL?

And notice how the press downplayed the climate which made possible the turnaround of Libya -- to GWB's and Tony Bair's credit. They must start trumpeting all their successes.

Hmmmm...this conclusion during an election year. Are the Dems that desperate?

Clinton had his chances to get bin Laden but he was too busy playing "Hide the Cigar" to care.

I hope this backfires on these people.

"But the commission doesn't want to make government bureaucrats even more risk-averse by hounding them."

I don't understand this statement at all. What does it mean? Please explain this statement, someone. Thanks

No bureaucrat before 9-11 was going to damage his/her career by targeting Muslims in the US. It would be career suicide.

The CIA and FBI aren't cooperating.

Critics from inside the intelligence community tell Newsweek that post-9/11, despite the Bush administration's establishment of the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC) to remedy U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies' failure to communicate, everything the various intelligence agencies learn is still not being shared.

The only problem is that by July 2001, Clarke was running CYBERSECURITY, not Counterterrorism.

At least According to Clarke

There was no other point to this commission besides

finding a way to blame Bush for 9/11.

And that's all anyone needs to know about it.

The Democrats main goal is to weaken the commander in chief in time of war. Sick bastards.
