I've always felt that Noonan's liberal friends influence her more than she knows.

I think you're right. I think she writes her pieces with them in mind. I like her though, she's one of the more eloquent writers around.

I've never liked her a lot. I'm not nuts about her writing style either. She takes the long, scenic route to every point. That would be all right I suppose if it touched me more, and if she were more consistent. She reeks of inconsistency. That gets on my nerves. Too much pomp and not enough circumstance.

I rarely read her and thing, "Oh, I just love that" like I do with so many other writers. I prefer smart and funny to syrupy. She could write everything better if she used half the space.
