March 24, 2004 -- DON Imus called CBS's Lesley Stahl a "gutless, lying weasel" yesterday for abruptly canceling an interview during which Imus planned to hammer her about conflict-of-interest allegations. "I realize it's a little late in your life, honey, to start gettin' honest, but just say 'I don't want to appear on the program . . . because I heard what he said earlier this morning,' " Imus railed.

The problem with c.b.s. is that as a news organization they need one to trust and believe what they say.
If anyone from c.b.s. said the sky was blus I'd go check because I don't trust anything they say.

"I realize it's a little late in your life, honey, to start gettin' honest [...]"

Well... let's be fair, though. If she did that, she'd have to give up network journalism. :)

I think I agree with you 100% on that and the unbiased reporting on Fox News is what charms people.

I know the left says it is right and that it isn't ballanced, but for so long the conventional press called a show with 5 liberals and once conservative balanced. They haven't a clue about what balance is anymore.

Supposedly Stahl asked to be on the program, then backed out. Laura Ingraham was a great replacement - and if you didn't hear her line, she said, "If Leslie was too busy, she should have just rolled over and handed the phone to Clarke." Priceless.

I love Laura Ingrams' remark. Something about " If Stahl didn't want to come on Imus, she could have just rolled over in bed and given the phone to Clarke".

The problem is that Fox leans right in its editorials but it's very balanced in its news reporting (if not ever so slightly leftward, because journalists are like that). The mainstream press leans left in its editorals and it slants the news left. This allows commentators to shrug and say Fox is as biased as everybody else, just in a different direction - when, in fact, the unforgivable thing the mainstream press does (and Fox doesn't) is distort factual news.

Once in a while the facially-challenged I-Man, who Tim Russert said looks like `a stuffed mummy in a cowboy museum', manages to get it totally right: Lesley Stahl IS a lying weasel.

The next time you watch Ms. Perfect Cheekbones on "60 Minutes" put on that skeptical glower, remember that what the interrogatee saw was Lesley intoning sweetly: "Go ahead, whisper it in my ear!"

Great points, I think those are excellent observations that others here will also read and benefit from. Thanks! :-)

He says he's supporting Kerry, though Imus will say anything, and he has a lot of anti Bush commentators on.I stopped watching after I got sick of Fineman,Alter,David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell. He loves Mc Cain, too.

I love Laura Ingrams' remark

I heard Laura Igram on Imus yesterday and I agree she was good with one exception. I was disappointed that she put up no defense of Condi Rice refusing to testify under oath to the 911 commission. Maybe she was blind sided by the question, but seems to me that since she is not a cabinet position, she is a direct advisor to the president and oversees sensitive intelligence information, that it is inappropriate for congress to interview her publicly under oath. People say that separation of powers is an "arcane" argument. The same people take very "liberal" interpretations of the constitution and seem to think the whole document is "arcane" I do love Laura's show though, I think she is one of the best. I find her more informative and entertaining than all but Rush.

bump

CBS has had some very rocky times lately, one screw up after another.......But Dan Rather still insists there is no media bias and says the network news business is in "great shape"

Can you say, Good Night Dan?

"She did everything but slip her tongue in his ear," said sidekick Bernard McGuirk."

This is an accurate way to describe what these people are up to. How disingenuous! We have anti-trust laws which govern corporations..Why would those not apply to situations like this where a much greater damage can be done to society? The constant lying and "weasling" on the part of the left is really a motivator for people who have not been politically active. Do they really think folks out here have memories so short concerning the events of 9-11 and the aftermath that they can rewrite history after such a brief period of time! A sense of fair play is still strong in most people and we had better hope that it is so for our very way of life is at stake and no one is going to like living in a world where slimey morality is the rule of the day.

Someone please tell Don Imus that he is not the center of the universe. I don't know if any of you have watched him early in the A.M. on MSNBC, but his ego is over the top.

He has somehow wormed his way from crude shock jock to crude political and cultural commentator. Well, Don, when you wear a cowboy hat, you don't attack women like that. It ain't right.

If Rumsfeld testifies, Rice should testify. Looks bad, and somewhat chicken if she aspires to VP or even senator.

I'm an avid Imus watcher and I believe Stahl had been on his program maybe one other time that I can remember. It's probably fair to say that it was her last appearance. Although, knowing the way the I-Man works, she'll probably be a guest within the next few weeks.

Here is yesterday's thread:

Lesley Stahl Cancels Appearance on Imus Program
