March 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - President Clinton had at least three chances before 9/11 to try to kill Osama bin Laden - but never took his shot, a new congressional report revealed yesterday.

Clinton shied away from ordering missile strikes on America's No. 1 enemy out of fear of killing civilians and worries about weak intelligence, the report said.

“This lost bin Laden hit typified the Clinton administration’s ambivalent, indecisive way of dealing with terrorism. Ideologically, the Clinton administration was committed to the idea that most terrorists were misunderstood, had legitimate grievances and could be appeased, which is why such military action as the administration authorized was so halfhearted, and ineffective, and designed more for ‘show’ than for honestly eliminating a threat.”

Gen. Hamid Gul, a retired chief of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency, contacted Taliban leaders in 1999 and said he'd provide three or four hours' warning of a U.S. missile attack, according to a report by the commission.

How would this guy have known? Did the Clinton adm. ask their permission? Did they get a signed permission slip?

Heck, I revealed it on this website over two years ago...

From the article...

Three times after Aug. 20, 1998, when Clinton ordered the only missile strike of his presidency against bin Laden's organization, the CIA came close enough to pinpointing bin Laden that Clinton authorized final preparations to launch. In each case, doubts about the intelligence aborted the mission...

More than once, advisers recall, Clinton sounded out Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about the prospect of using Special Forces to surprise bin Laden's fighters on the ground. But Clinton declined to authorize the large-scale operation that Shelton said would be required, and he chose not to order a less ambitious option to which the general would have objected.

Amid all of the spin there are germs of truth...

I've been sitting on some info under the "loose lips" principle, but this article makes that no longer necessary. An Academy buddy of my cousin, himself a former Air Force pilot, is a Delta Force pilot. According to him, we had bin Laden "in our crosshairs" three times during the Clinton years, but couldn't get the kill order from higher up. His conclusion from the field was the reason for this failure was nothing more than a lack of the political will to get the job done.

Which leads, yet again, to the obvious question:

Would the attacks of 9/11 have happened, had President Clinton been up to the job with which he was entrusted?

This "commission" has its own problem with credibility.

Senator Kerrey was a sitting senator during this time frame and out of his mouth told the world that bjclinton was a liar and a very good one.

What was Senator Kerrey doing during his tenure as a sitting senator? I do not recall him ever having concerns about "terrorists" attacks. He was just as much a part of the problem as most of those who sit on this so called "commission".

COMMENT: The above inculpatory remark by the impeached erstwhile ersatz prez is illustrative of
the synergy of profound psychological dysfunction and rube arrogance rooted in stupidity. That
remark is his legacy's death knell.

Clinton's failure to grasp the opportunity to unravel increasingly organized extremists, coupled with Berger's assessments of their potential to directly threaten the U.S., represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures in American history.

Clinton Let Bin Laden Slip Away and Metastasize
MANSOOR IJAZ
December 5, 2001

Lopez: In sum, how many times did Bill Clinton lose bin Laden?

Miniter: Here's a rundown. The Clinton administration:

1. Did not follow-up on the attempted bombing of Aden marines in Yemen.

2. Shut the CIA out of the 1993 WTC bombing investigation, hamstringing their effort to capture bin Laden.

3. Had Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a key bin Laden lieutenant, slip through their fingers in Qatar.

4. Did not militarily react to the al Qaeda bombing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

5. Did not accept the Sudanese offer to turn bin Laden.

6. Did not follow-up on another offer from Sudan through a private back channel.

7. Objected to Northern Alliance efforts to assassinate bin Laden in Afghanistan.

8. Decided against using special forces to take down bin Laden in Afghanistan.

9. Did not take an opportunity to take into custody two al Qaeda operatives involved in the East African embassy bombings. In another little scoop, I am able to show that Sudan arrested these two terrorists and offered them to the FBI. The Clinton administration declined to pick them up and they were later allowed to return to Pakistan.

10. Ordered an ineffectual, token missile strike against a Sudanese pharmaceutical factory.

11. Clumsily tipped off Pakistani officials sympathetic to bin Laden before a planned missile strike against bin Laden on August 20, 1998. Bin Laden left the camp with only minutes to spare.

12-14. Three times, Clinton hesitated or deferred in ordering missile strikes against bin Laden in 1999 and 2000.

15. When they finally launched and armed the Predator spy drone plane, which captured amazing live video images of bin Laden, the Clinton administration no longer had military assets in place to strike the archterrorist.

16. Did not order a retaliatory strike on bin Laden for the murderous attack on the USS Cole.

It's a GOOD THING that this comission investigated 9/11 or we would NEVER have known about the BENT ONE's failures to get Binny...

How long have WE known this fact? It takes this assembly of asses and all of a sudden the failed media finds its voice? They all make me sick.

When you add Oklahoma City to the equation, you really get upset.

Politically, Oklahoma City, if tied to Arab terrrorists, could have cost Clinton the election.

So the obvious thing: Right wing extremists did it.

And, of course, TWA 800 had to be a fuel tank explosion. If you don't see it that way, we have ways of MAKING you see it that way.

Is it all making sense now?

"Please buy my new book. Why publish now?
Because my CBS-supported book lists the "soft sites" around America which Democrats hope will be targetted by terrorists.
Yes, so what. My book IS owned by CBS.
If Lesley Stahl did not tell you it is only because it is Double-plus Cosmic Secret.
And please don't forget to vote for my candidate, Democrat John Kerry, in at least two to five states, OK?

FLASHBACK:

"Mr. Clarke, Mr. Clarke, please this is urgent.
We can take out Osama, now. Please answer!!! We have him in our sight."

Clarke: "Nope. Forgetaboutit. No big deal. They promise to only attack our computers."

The Clintoons placed their own JagOff lawyers all over the Jags in all the services.

Remember in the early days of our war in Afghanistan, a Predator had Omar in its sights. A Jagoff Clintoon lawyer prevented our warriors from taking him out with a missile strike.

Rummy went ballistic and apparently got the Clintoon Jagoff's removed from control and placed in charge of rearranging the dust in the halls of the Pentagon. Since then, we have been whacking the bad guys when they have been found.
