Man Confesses To Torching Homes; On 'Mission From God'
28-Year-Old Faces Attempted Murder, Burglary Charges
POSTED: 5:33 am EST March 23, 2004 UPDATED: 6:47 am EST March 23, 2004
A man in Orange County, Fla., said he was on a "mission from God" when he broke into three Pine Hills homes Monday afternoon and set them on fire, according to Local 6 News.
Lajeffery Reeves, 28, was arrested Monday for allegedly going on a fire-starting rampage and torching a home and two apartments within a span of only minutes.
Police said in some cases, residents were home when Reeves allegedly broke into the homes and sparked the blaze.
Reeves admitted to Local 6 News Monday night that he set all of the fires with a lighter. He said he set clothes on fire and then left.
Local 6 News reporter Louis Bolden asked, "Are you concerned with the charges that are again you?"
"No sir," Reeves said in a jailhouse interview. "I can smile in this camera for years and tell them that I have burned them up and I will burn more if it comes to it."
Police said Reeves first burned a home in Pine Hills, then set two more fires at the Silver Oaks Apartments and Oak Shadow Apartments on N. Powers Boulevard.
Reeves was arrested near the fires Monday as some 90 firefighters fought flames at the three simultaneous fires in the area.
Reeves' mother said her son's weird behavior started at home. Bernie Fuller said he was baptizing her and her grandchild with bleach but left the house when she called the police Monday.
Reeves faces burglary charges and could face charges for arson and attempted murder.

How come all the missions I get from god are so dull? Like helping people, posting on fr, and all that stuff he tells me to do.

People were home? If he broke into my house and tried to set fire to it, he'd be seeing his deity in person.

Of course if he had said "mission from Allah" a certain segment of posters here would get all sorts of excited.
