Jewish Community Center in Southern France Attacked The Associated Press Published: Mar 23, 2004

TOULON, France (AP) - Attackers set fire to a Jewish community center in southeast France overnight, causing slight damaging its entrance hall, police said Tuesday. The assailants broke a window at the center in the southwestern city of Toulon and doused the interior with a flammable liquid that was then set on fire, police said. Several walls were blackened by flames, but there were no injuries.

Yves Haddad, who leads the local Jewish community, expressed "disgust and sadness" at the attack, saying it might be "an importation of what's happening in the Middle East."

France has been battling anti-Semitic violence for more than two years, often involving attacks against Jewish schools, synagogues and community centers. In March 2002, a synagogue in the nearby city of Marseille was burned to the ground.

President Jacques Chirac has put in motion an action plan to fight anti-Semitism that includes extra security at Jewish schools and places of worship, and establishing tough new penalties to those found guilty of anti-Semitic acts.

I think you're right. We just had a Jewish cemetary in my area vandalised and the headstones tipped over. Also, several houses were painted with swastikas. This is in Canada too. Very disturbing. The perpetrators were pretty stupid too - they spraypainted a Catholic household with swastikas as well. Guess they assumed everyone on the street was Jewish.

That's impossible. I don't believe it for a second. France didn't send any troops to Iraq so they should be safe from attack.

Israel is the only other country with the cajones to take on radical Islam...Now Hamas threatens the USA. Let's see how we respond. I'd love to see one of these guys try some of their suicide stuff here in the USA...It would quickly be game over for them.

It started like this in Germany over 65 years ago...it only took 5 years before they were deporting them to "labour camps"...than another 3 years and they were implementing the "final solution".

We have had a real surge of antisemitic activity, culminating in cemetery desecrations, synagogues vandalizing and physical aggressions.

I'm the basic French goy here, and thus I can only say this : whatever his race, background or creed I want the smart-ass who thinks he can desecrate any tomb in my country or import his sh*tty little jihad to be taught a little lesson in civil behavior in no time.

If he happens to be French, I want him to enjoy the hospitality of the Republic's penitentiary system.

If he happens to be an immigrant, then I want him and his intolerance deported.

If his victims happen to be foreign - let's say Israeli for example - then I wanted him to be harshly punished so he can learn a thing or two about the right way to treat the Republic's guests.
