Were one to ask these "peace" activists directly why they would do such a thing, their answer would be, that war is so horrible, so meaningless, that every effort should be made to avoid the seemingly senseless slaughter, that all efforts to teach self-defense only provoke the predator into testing your skills. In the face of an attack by a bear, we should lie down, assume a fetal possition, and eventually the bear will tire of the game and leave you alone, at which time you could presumedly clean up and patch your own wounds. Or not.

These people have a built-in bias for being victims. First by creating situations where others can take advantage of them, then by submitting to the predator when they show up. In essence, they act as bait for their own traps, then allow the predator to leave when the trap is sprung, thus imprisoning themselves.

Something deeper is working here. The victim does not feel worthy of accepting the largesse so freely available, and must, in some tortured reasoning, surrender the goods in his possession up to the first person who demands they ought do this, in exchange for only hurting the victim a little bit. This is really a pretty good deal in the mind of the victim, as he is relieved of the responsibility of keeping the goods in his possession, and the punishment received in permitting the transaction to be completed seems fair, as it reduces the guilt of the victim for having something that somebody else did not have, and the victim was forced to surrender the goods by threat, or actual use of violence.
