COASTAL TRAIL: Loose dog, deep snow may have been factors; biologist faults the shooter.

Michael Vogel feared for his life a year ago, when a moose charged him on the Coastal Trail and stomped on his face, temporarily blinding him and smashing several bones.

Forget the tree huggers

Ohh surely you could come up with a phonetically similar but much more appropriate verb.

Yep. Moose should stay away from people. They're too massive to take any chances if they're charging like this guy said it was.

They should be able to tell something about what happened from the tracks in the snow, but they say nothing about that.

"I'd shoot the moose"
I support shooting the moose too. I just think we should wait until France agrees. I refuse to fund this bullet! I supported funding it before I refused funding it.
If my name were John Kerry, the NYtimes would call my position NUANCED.

"It doesn't make me feel that good to have a guy that volatile with a handgun down there," she said. "I mean it's a city park. I'm so upset. ... We don't carry weapons on the trail; we carry our brains."

Tasha Bergt obviously has NOT been attacked by a moose. I say time for some mooseburgers!

The powers that be are totally imbecillic about the moose that come into Anchorage during the winter.

Vogel pulled a .44-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver from his fanny pack, which also contained several cheese sandwiches, and shot it.

I've had one encounter with a moose, in 1988 in Yellowstone Ntl. Park. It was an adult female, and she meekly walked up to me. ....very much like some of the tame deer on my property do. I gave her a few pats on the head, and then walked off. She then went about her business of grazing.
